Traditional hotel, with modern amenities. We stayed here for a weekend away in September 2020. On arrival we were greeted at the front desk, after check in we were shown to our room. Which we found to be extremely large, clean, and well decorated with a brand new bathroom. We were also given a tour of the hotel by the friendly and helpful manager. We made use of the bar and restaurant and found both to be excellent value. The bar area and the hotel itself retain a lot of historical features. The bar itself was popular but not too loud, and could not be heard from our room at all.

Recently re-opened a good start. We have lived near Presteigne for nearly three years now., For most of this time the Radnorshire Arms has been closed, the usual rumours claimed to know why, Bankruptcy, unsafe building New owners, probably all incorrect the manager having in fact, being abducted by aliens!! I digress into the silly. It has been closed for ages, a much lamented fact as it is such a stunningly beautiful old building. The oldest parts seem to face the road and are beautiful black & white half timbered construction with a large Victorian looking extension to the rear and some 1960's /. 70's style cabins. There is ample off street parking in its own carport at the back accessed directly from the bypass. We just came for Sunday Lunch, so only got to see the restaurant bit in the large dining area facing the road. There were six of us in our group so we had pre-booked and were clearly expected, which I always feel is a good start in restaurants !! A really nice Sunday lunch was had by all. Bearing in mind that this is the middle of Covid wave 2 and that we are all are working under the Welsh Covid restrictions, we were not expecting miracles but were very pleasantly surprised. The menu was limited but what you would expect, Its Sunday Lunch so they offer the usual choice of roast joints and a veggie option, starters were soup, pate, garlic mushrooms etc. All of it was beautifully cooked, my pork was particularly good, I am reliably informed that my son's beef was equally good, served pinkish but not rare. The restaurant was quiet with just two other tables seated, when we arrived, though there had clearly been more earlier. As it has only very recently re-opened with few people being aware it is back, and that we are in the middle of Covid, we half expected to be the only diners. So whilst they were not exactly busy, the girls serving were pleasant polite and efficient. Food and drinks came at what I consider to be the correct pace. We were pleased to see that they have mastered the basic restaurant task of getting everyone what they ordered, in front of them at pretty much the same time, and whilst the food is still hot. So many restaurants seem to find this bit quite beyond them for some reason. We didn't venture into the wine list but they clearly keep a good cellar and know how to serve beer as it should be. They had three fairly local draught ales, one of them being Butty-Bache so nobody is going to go far wrong serving a good pint of that. We saw some desserts go post and very nice they looked but all but one of us were well filled by this stage. Price, we thought very reasonable having had six starters six mains one pud with a liberal supply of Butty-Bach & Gin & Tonics it came a grand total of around £20 each. Had the price been higher would we still be so keen ? Well if it had come to £25 each then I still think that we would have had a generous Sunday Lunch and value for money. Haute cuisine it is not, but haute cuisine is not what I am looking for in an impromptu family meal and would not be appropriate for a hotel in a large village. There are a few rough edges as you would expect, it was closed for long enough to presumably be all new staff, but in a few months when they have got well bedded in, got more used to working together they will be fine. Overall Hat off to whoever is behind this, of all the crap times to have to re-open a long closed hotel / restaurant. However they seem to be making a real go of it. I am sure that their formula should be a winner, A limited choice of good quality food, prepped and cooked really well, served nicely and at a sensible price. What is to not like ?? Well done boys and girls, take a gold star we will e back and will spread the word.
