Delicious Birthday Afternoon TeaWe had booked a Groupon Afternoon Tea here for my mother in law's birthday and it was beautiful My mum and my partner too. We all thoroughly enjoyed it. Tables were spaced out nicely and hand gel everywhere. Staff were wearing masks too. The sandwiches were all very fresh and tasty. The little cake treats were delicious. Then came the fruit scones, with loads of jam and cream. It was so yummy We sat in the conservatory and it was a very pleasant room. Staff were friendly and helpful too. We would definitely return, in fact I've bought another voucher as a present for someone. Thanks very much to Groupon too and the hotel, for a lovely treat for us all. We will be back

I hadn't been for 10 yearsAs I noticed that the hotel has undergone improvements we thought that we might go for a nice meal.... On arrival we were asked to wait to be shown to our table , which i know most people do now and understand it is safest to not stand around near other people. Our waitress arrived and led us through a very much improved bar area, where it would have been nice to have a drink and read the menu... We were taken to a room which looked as though it was somewhere to store tables, and clearly the redecoration had not yet been carried out. We sat down and were given our menus, we decided to order a gin and tonic each before the meal, after one of our party had been to the bar to choose the gin ( there appeared to be no list) our drinks arrived without ice and lemon in glasses that would have been ok in a village hall, when our wine came the glasses were equally grim. we are used to drinking in the pubs in the village that have really nice glasses . I expected a restaurant to be the same. The plates were not much better, more like school dinner plates. The food was fine, but the presentation of the main courses was non existent , the food was just squeezed onto the school dinner plates. This is not a country house hotel restaurant, that I would recommend to anyone. The room may improve when it's been decorated, new china and glassware will help, but I really didn't feel as though we were wanted there. Maybe the aim is to do more weddings, but at the moment they can only be small, and bearing in mind it is in a village with many restaurants and pubs they really do need to do better to get more customers, or they really don't want customers just close it to non residents.

Dirty cold room, no hot water, non existent customer service. Avoid!Wanted to give this zero stars but cant. Stayed at this hotel for a work function on 12th October. The room was cold so notified reception, I was given an old filled radiator but this never heated the room and it remained cold. The room was dirty with dead flies on the windowsill and flies buzzing around too. Next morning the shower was cold despite an early start because I was up early after being unable to sleep due to the cold. I again reported this to reception in the morning and was simply told, its not normally like that and given the brush off. It was arranged for the invoice to be emailed to me. 7 days later, no invoice, I tried phoning the hotel at 4 different times of the day, no answer. I emailed and somebody called me back the following day. Im still waiting for the invoice and despite me explaining again, all of the problems I had, no meaningful action was taken. I would never recommend this hotel and wont be staying there again. It wouldve been cheaper and better at a travel lodge. Disappointing all round.

ShabbySpent a night here as a birthday treat following on from a meal and drinks at a local restaurant. Nice lady in reception checked us in and gave us directions to our room, which was on the ground floor just around the corner from the reception area. Long story short: this isnt a 4 star hotel by any means. Incredibly smelly room from the internal heating system, very grubby bathroom. Black mould around the bath seal, smelly old, mouldy discoloured shower curtain and dirty, old grout. I wouldnt wash a dog in there. A high pitched screeching noise in the corridor that could be heard in the room throughout the whole night. It was like having tinnitus. Breakfast area. Air vents hanging out the ceiling, damp stains on the ceiling, light fittings not working. Breakfast and the engaging staff being the only high points. Ive stayed in better budget hotels.

WeddingBooked our wedding here and paid the full amount, due to the coronavirus we was due to get married July 2020 mid lockdown so obviously this could not go ahead, we contacted our wedding coordinator multiple times to rebook our wedding or have a full refund and we had to keep sending emails and chasing with no replies. We finally got confirmed we could have a refund and was the most stressful and complicated thing. We was told it was head offices job to sort out and then we was passed backwards and forwards until we received our money. We waited 2 months to get our money back which I find ridiculous. Would never book a weeding there again or recommended anyone too. It caused us a lot of stress.
