Weekend stay among brothers-in-lawWe enjoyed our stay in this cosy hotel from the moment we checked-in until we unfortunately had to check-out. We were warmly welcomed at the reception by a smiley and very helpful lady who clearly loves her job. Our dinner at the hotel's brasserie-restaurant was top from A-Z: from the attentive, professional service until the dessert and the excellent starter and main course served in between. The next morning we enjoyed a very extensive and tasty breakfast. We truly recommend this hotel and restaurant should you look for a convivial stay made possible by very helpful, friendly and hospitable staff.

3,5 needs update but the provide great serviceBook an arrangement with this hotel. It is in the city centre, has a spa and parking. Restaurant comes in handy as well. The common areas look nice. They had a lot of measures for Covid. Rooms need upgrade! We had nice room with double windows, and even though it was very clean it doesnt give you the 4 star feeling with old furniture and very basic bathroom. Bed was OK. Spa is ok, basic but they achieve the relaxing feeling. It has showers, sauna, hamman, and a swimmingpool that has a small jacuzzi part. Make sure you book the hours in advance so you have the hours that best fit your stay. The breakfast was very nice, I thought they had enough quality choice. The yoghurts were amazing, I dont know if they make them themselves or buy them from a farm, but you should try them. The best of all was the helpful staff. Everybody was friendly and ready to help to make our stay as special as possible.

Meh, expensive and unfair. You have to pay extra to use the pool, this isn't good service for a four star hotel if you are already a paying guest. Extra brithday package was a joke and very overpriced..a small cake not iced and one bottle of Cider to share which probably came to about 6 euros to make. Wouldn't stay here again unless they make pool free for paying guests.

A great place to stayThe world is in a bit of a sorry state at the time of writing. The Internet generation are trying to topple Alexander Lukashenko in Belarus. Theres been a successful, good old-fashioned, military coup in Mali. Donald Trump is president of the United States, and theres a global pandemic threatening life as we know it. So, in a world where your country is in quasi-lockdown and has been blacklisted by most of Europe for being a tad too honest about Coronavirus-related deaths, what is your honest middle-class worker supposed to do for a break? The answer, of course, is to discover your own country. In Belgium, that leaves the coast or the Ardennes, but, after generalised mayhem at the coast, thats banned too, so, that leaves the Ardennes. You could do a whole lot worse than ending up in the beautiful little city of Marche-en-Famenne and its beautifully quaint little centre, where everything can be reached in a ten-minute walk. While you are there, you could do much worse, certainly, than end up staying at the Quartier Latin hotel. This is especially true if you are in any way dealing with mobility issues. The Quartier Latin is that rarest of commodities in Belgium: a fully wheelchair-accessible hotel! Yes, of course, all disabilities are different, so your mileage may vary, but for this reviewer, the hotel was nigh on perfect from the accessibility point of view. Everywhere, there are slopes, which, admittedly are even slightly tricky for this fit young reviewer on wheels, but staff are most helpful, and I was even pushed up a slope by a friendly receptionist. There is even a wheelchair-accessible lavatory on the ground-floor, for when youve just come in from a walk, and dont feel you can quite make it to your room in time. But, compared to most hotels in Belgium, this is a fairly minor complaint. Staff, indeed are very friendly and helpful. For instance, when electronic key cards become demagnetised (which happened twice in a four-night stay) they are very happy to help, no matter the time of day and night, and one such occasion was 11.30 p.m.! The rooms are lovely, spacious, and come equipped with baths, which are more or less accessible to those of reduced mobility. Indeed our party swapped rooms because one bath was made tricky to access due to a glass pane on one side and the wash hand basin on the other. Each room has air-conditioning, which proved very pleasant in a time when the latest Belgian heatwave was slowly edging to a close. Breakfast is great if you can find it. The hotel is a modern building which is tacked onto an old disused church. There are four lifts, not counting service lifts, so, you really need to know where you are going, because not all parts of the hotel seem to join up to one another. The situation becomes almost Kafkaesque when you want to go down to the spa area or to the breakfast room. You arrive on the ground-floor, and enter the lift. Now, to go to the breakfast room, you press 8. This hotel isnt huge. It hasnt got 8 floors, so, floor 8, is a small flight of steps above the ground floor, which, sure enough, you return to by pressing 0. Fine! The breakfast selection includes a wide selection of bread, and cold cuts, including the legendary Jambon de Nassogne, which is a small village near Marche-en-Famenne. A revelation, which we stocked up on after leaving! The dried or smoked kind was reminiscent of Iberico ham, for a fraction of the price! Perhaps uniquely, for hotels, the soft boiled eggs are soft at the Quartier Latin, although sometimes absurdly so! Say, now you wanted to go to the spa, situated oh, another small flight of steps (5-10 steps) below ground level, so, of course, to reach that, you press number 9! Makes perfect sense, really, if you think about it. Floor eight is just above floor zero, which, of course is just above floor 9. In times of Corona, all staff were wearing masks, and everywhere you went you found alcohol to sanitise your hands. The pool and spa area were to be pre-booked and are not at free disposal of hotel guests. Our party took this to mean that you had the pool to yourself. This was not so. We were somewhat surprised, at one point, to find that a good six people beyond us were using the pool, which, incidentally, photos make look bigger than it is. The Hammam was also open, whereas many spas would not have done so yet. Perhaps the management of the pool and spa area needs to be reviewed The hotel restaurant is a nice, unassuming Brasserie type restaurant. Dont let that fool you, though. The chef is truly a master of his craft. Tunny fish steak and cod perhaps the trickiest fish in the sea to cook well short of swordfish - were both cooked to absolute perfection! There was a dish of pan-seared sweetbreads, which were soft and again, cooked to this reviewers complete liking! No real ned for a starter either, as you are always served a generous dollop of ham mousse and rolls. Here again, the service was charming, with the occasional rough edge, as we hit an afternoon and evening where the staff were training potential future colleagues. Although in general the staff were very friendly or in the case of the head waiter friendly and cheeky! and attentive. If you can, eat outside, as the restaurant inside can get a little warm after a while. All in all then, the Quartier Latin hotel makes for a lovely little getaway for a weekend, a mere hour and a quarters drive away from Brussels when you feel like getting away from it all amid the global pandemic or the uncertain global situation, or just for a lovely getaway global threats notwithstanding. I would very much enjoy visiting when The Coronavirus measures are no longer needed, if only to put a lower half to the friendly faces and eyes I encountered there. Special praise too, for the Quartier Latin, because of the accessibility of the place. It is really nice to go somewhere as a disabled person and not to have to worry about that side of things.
