  Lovely place to stay

  Stay here for two night while up here working. Room is nice and big and comfy. Room extremely clean and tidy. My bed was very comfy. Check in nice and easy with super friendly staff. There is a restaurant attached. They have a small car park out back, so you don't have to pay for parking. Really enjoyed my.stay thank you.

  Relax at The George

  Us Melbournians escaped for a few days in Ballarat and werent disappointed. Whilst I love the history and architecture, The George staff and surrounds treated us to a special relaxing three night stay. From the reception, to bar staff and wait staff, we were made to feel special. Our room was comfortable with everything we needed and the renovated bathroom was straight from a magazine.

  GREAT Olde World Hotel!

  LOVED our stay in a Suite that overlooked Lydiard St. An Olde World Hotel with VERY Modern Additions. And... GREAT Variety on the MENU for Lunch and Dinner, but the Kitchen area would make it Very Easy to put together a Meal...(& there IS a Washing Machine!! Marvellous).As well, The George location is in Central Ballarat. An Easy walk to all sorts of Shops.We will be returning here in March. DO give The George a Visit... Smile...

  Dissatisfied Service

  Visited the George Hotel on Wednesday evening for a meal with friends. No table service. Disappointed that the table beside us got table service but we weren't offered any type of table service. Last drinks were not called, and when approached the bar was told that the tills had been closed this being 9.15pm. Staff were nowhere to be found at times when we were replenishing our drinks. The staff member did after I expressed my disappointment at the service we had received, did provide drinks as long as we paid cash. No complaints re the food. Service was atrocious, will not return to this hotel.

  Survivor from the Gold Rush era

  The George Hotel has been part of the social fabric of Ballarat since 1854. It was built at the height of the Great Australian Gold Rush. The hotel even played a part in the suppression of the Eureka Stockade. The facilities have been modernized recently, and it's a pleasant place to stay. The George is in historic Lydiard Street, over the road from the superb Art Gallery of Ballarat. The Lane Cafe is a good place for a drink and a meal.
