Not ready to be a Choice Brand Hotel. This property is a Red Carpet Inn that is being converted to a Quality Inn under the Choice Hotels brand. It is not yet ready to be called a "Quality Inn". The rates are reasonable and the staff is personable. Room appeared to be clean and the bed was reasonable comfortable. Now for the downside: The breakfast room was being remodeled. The hotel chose to put a few items; bagels, juice, instant oatmeal and so on out in the lobby for guests. Nice effort but not done with sanitation and food safety in mind. Second to that is being out of coffee two mornings in a row. Room Issues: No additional security device on the door other than the deadbolt on the door latch. No alarm clock in the room. Television was a LG HDTV that was improperly set up - TV appeared to be set for 4:3 resolution rather than full screen and was stuck on 'zoom' so about half the picture is not visible on sides, top and bottom of screen. Also, no HBO, Showtime or premium channels other than FXMovies. Shower: Newly tiled with sliding glass doors. Very nice until you step out into a puddle of cold water because the bottom of the door sill was not caulked on either side of the door Flooring is laminate or vinyl plank - not carpet. Parking lot lighting needs to be improved. WiFi was mostly acceptable. The signal was inconsistent and occasionally slow. Overall the WiFi would be rated as Fair. Bath and Vanity: Good pressure and reliable hot water. The in-room amenities are leftovers from the Red Carpet Inn and are not Choice Hotels brand standard items. Towels are rough and somewhat thin. About what is expected at a Red Roof, Motel 6 or EconoLodge. Not the level expected at a Quality Inn. This location has promise. The property is good sized and the rooms aren't cramped although the bathrooms are about the size of a beach towel. Once the renovation/conversion is completed and it is up to Choice Hotels brand standards I will stay here again.

I Would Give Minus Stars, If PossibleWe came here for Merlefest so we are paying 3-4x the normal rate. I'm OK with that. Today our rooms were not cleaned. Per Sean at the desk, the housekeeper didn't show up today. Here's towels, soap and toilet paper. No, the manager doesn't come in until tomorrow. I think he could have added, what's your problem? But that's just the latest problem with this place. There are so many things plugged in on the electric plug in the breakfast room that the toaster or the microwave blow the extension cord and don't work. It's our fourth (?) day here and we haven't been given soap since we got here. The floors are not clean. There were candy bar and gum wrappers on the floor when we moved in. We wear slippers in the room and don't go barefoot. The management really needs to get involved and get a customer-service approach, rather than seeing us as an expense. Yes, soap and housekeeping cost money, but they're part of the service expected of a hotel. I like the hotel's location, and that''s about all right now.

Credit Card Billed Twice for One NightI made the reservation throgh the Choice Hotels web site and prepaid for the room. When I arrived at the hotel the desk clerk asked for my credit card in case I charged any incidentals. When I received my credit card statement , I was billed by Choice Hotels reservation site for the prepaid reservation and by the hotel as well. I attempted to get the problem resolved with the hotel management but they were unwilling to credit my account for the additional charge. I tried to resolve it with Choice Hotels Customer Service and received no help from them. This hotel is old and poorly maintained. The linens and towels are worn and no toiletries other than a tiny piece of soap were provided. The breakfast is minimal and poor quality. Avoid this hotel despite its low rates.

Not Ready For a Choice Hotel!Room 115 door had been busted in. Air had been off and the room and sheets were very musty smelling. Could.not.stay. Did not feel secure and it stunk. Please Choice Hotel renovate this old hotel before offering it on your website! Also, I see similar complaints going back several months and these things are still a problem?

Do NOT stop hereRed Carpet / Quality Inn - Wilkesboro, NC. The worst hotel ever. Mold in the bathroom, uncomfortable bed that was falling apart, room repairs covered over with a non matching paint color, & ac barely cooling just to name a few. WORST OF ALL - OVERCHARGED!!! confirmation # 89043723 Platinum Elite choice Member - King room. $62.10 + Tax = $68.31 At check in as clerk was scrolling through available rooms, they all said Dirty, Dirty, Dirty. Said no Kings only a double and then charged more! $67.95 + tax = $74.75. When I made the reservation, i asked of there was large truck parking. Clerk said yes, you a truck driver? I replyed yes CDL commericial hauler. On arrival, she said you no truck driver. Replied yes we are, Ford F450 (ton and a half dually) pulling a 53 trailer with camplers). So was the rate increase because she decided we were not truck drivers or because we didnt get the reserved King and got a double? We are Elite Platiinum because we are on the road and in a hotel 300 nights a year. We have stayed in plenty dumps but this was beyond dirty, it was Nasty. Dont be fooled Website says Quality Inn but receipt says Red Carpet. This in no way is the quality of a Choice hotel!
