  New favourite place

  As a frequent business traveller its the small things that make a difference. My welcome was so good at check in I commented that I felt right at home already. The bar on site gives an option for smaller, lighter meals than the restaurant and felt like a comfortable place for me on my own which isnt always the case. But, better than all of that, you get proper milk (not plastic pot) and a mug! This is more rare than you might imagine but makes a massive difference to me at the start of the day.

  Accommodation Staff should leave Bar to Experienced Bar Staff and Manager

  My wife & I frequented here often over a decade however the Mgr with a SA accent from accommodation side was terribly horrible, rude & obnoxious. We had booked our daughters 21st party of 200 here including accommodation across 3 days but were so appalled and disappointed with this womans lack of customer care that we went elsewhere and have not been back since. Sadly, we have heard other patrons have gone elsewhere due to this same womans behaviour. You need to do something before many more move on and you lose more business.

  Great location

  Friendly welcome and great hotel staff. Room was very clean but very basic and we were at the end of the hallway with no external access so a bit of a hike to drop our bags off. It is in need of a revamp but hopefully the new owners will spend some money to take it back up to scratch as it sounds like it was the place to be back in the day. Pickles the cockatoo is a great welcome shouting out hello and goodbye which was really cute. It did seem like a lot of construction workers may be staying at the moment but it was very quiet. No Sky which was unusual these days and value for money - well a bit over priced but for the location it was worth it with the Queensgate shopping centre right opposite. We did not go to the restaurant although I have heard rave reports about the meals and did not go the bar either - although I wish we did after reading the reviews.

  Good location but Budget

  Location is good - walking distance to Mall and shops. In Lower Hutt for work - room is budget, not corporate. Wouldn't stay here again. The only thing going for this place is Pickles the Parrot - when it's in the mood it will say hello.

  Fabulous Stay

  My husband and I spent a night here and were very impressed. The service, accommodation and food were excellent. The room was clean, the bed very comfortable and we loved Pickles the bird. Would definitely stay here again.
