    A very good hotel indeed

Stayed for 3 weeks in June 2016 during a business trip. The hotel was my sanctuary from fairly oppressive humidity rather than heat. Very well appointed, rooms are spacious (twin double) and the shower room big enough for a rugby team. Daily cleaning and turn down service was spot on. Tried a couple of the restaurants, they were very good too. Breakfast buffet has a large variety of foods on offer from toast to noodle soup, fruit and vegetables ... catering mostly to the 99% Chinese guests of course. My morning noodle soup always set me up for the day. Very little English spoken but that wasn't an obstacle to my enjoyment. Laundry ordered for next day was always delivered same day ... perfect service. Not sure if they still have some smoking rooms ... mine didn't smell at all though there's a whiff in certain parts. Aircon always functioned well. Overall, very satisfied with my stay, especially at the room rate.

    A joyful and overwhelming experience

On the week of October 27, 2019 I spent eight nights at the Qiushuishan Grand Hotel. This is the third time I stayed at this hotel and I believe it is a 5-star hotel which is located at the bottom of a small mountain and extremely quiet due to almost no traffic. The list price is kind high but if you can use the WeChat to deposit some money in hotel spending list (not join membership), the rate drops significantly. On the day I checked in, two sweet and beautiful girls at front desk helped me to set this WeChat thing up to get 399 Chinese Yuan (approximate US$57) per night in the main building. The size of the room is spacious and clean as well as the bathroom. I lived on the 11th floor and the room faces a park with a nice view. It is a non-smoking room without smell of smoke. All the staffs from front desk, room keeping, to restaurant are very friendly, courteous, helpful and professional. From time to time, the hotel provides free fruits. The hotel offers buffet style breakfast but I did not take. On the second floor, there is an upscale Chinese restaurant with very competitive price, nice staff and excellent quality. I held a dinner party for 13 people and it only cost 1600 Chinese yuan (approximate US$226). Overall it is really an overwhelming and joyful experience without any issue. The only disadvantage is that you do not take train nearby and have to ride a bus for several stops to get to the subway station. There are two bus stops within 5-minute walking distance. If you stay in Buji area, I highly recommend this hotel.

On a business and leisure trip

Thishotel is great. Little english is spoken but there are some staff that are on duty than can speak english The rooms are huge and comfy. We were on the 11th floor over looking the qiushuishan park. This park is large and caters for everyone. Highly recommend walking the great wall of china if fit as it is extremely steep. Swimming pool is only open in their summer

Clearly Overated - Avoid at all cost

On an business trip for 2 full weeks, and after reading some reviews I was not so concerned about the hotel quality, but after staying here, the only word coming to my mind is disappointment. Where to start? First, I am baffle by highly positive comments of some westerners concerning this hotel, was this better before, or are standards of those people so low? Let me tell first that I have been around China plenty, and lived here for 2 years, so I know what to expect and what is good an not. 1.Location: not the best, convenient for me due to proximity to daily destination for business, nothing else. For tourism, forget about it, far from everything worth to see, no decent restaurants around and noisy area due to fun park in front of hotel. 2.Rooms: Big but a bit dated. 5 to 10 years would be great, but wear and tear grows fast and China and it's noticeable, spots on walls, sports on carpet (why do Chinese insist on that?), chairs and sofas quite old and uncomfortable). The bed and pillows are too soft. Cleaning is acceptable but not great. 3. Facilities: A lot of conference rooms and big groups present, so noise is constant. Gym, swimming pool and spa not working during my stay. Internet: that is always a problem is China due to the big firewall, but slower than usual for an hotel this size and trying to be business oriented. 4. Food: The worst part of the hotel, 3 restaurants, Korean (always closed), Chinese chic (only in price) and western/Chinese. Best of best restaurant: don't get fooled by the name, prices are quite high for Chinese standard, but the food is greasy and mediocre just like any corner street restaurant for 1/3 of the price. The staff was slow to react and was so surprise to see me that didn´t know what to do with me... Western golf restaurant: Don't get fooled by the name. The menu is short and the food is not good at all. Breakfast is a disaster, the choices for western breakfast and few and really low quality. The Chinese food doesn't look good either and my Chinese colleague mentioned it as terrible. Most Chinese hotels have troubles offering western breakfast, that is ok for me as long as the Chinese options are at least decent, which is not the case here. Staff is very slow to respond and bit lost, even for Chinese standards. All in all, avoid this place, trust me, my experience with China tells me that this hotel is overpriced, can get much better for this price in China.
