  Great location to get around the west coast

  This is a great hotel with great views across the bay. Saldanha is very much a working town, but for those who want to get to know the area this is the central place to stay. We stayed here for 7 nights and can honestly say that the staff here are brilliant, helpful and happy and they really made our stay brilliant. Nothing was to much trouble. We ate inthe restaurant and bar every night and it was of great quality. Try the sea food platter. The bar area is also a great placd to sit and relax enjoying the views across thd bay.

  Amazing family friendly hotel

  Charming hotel in Saldanha Bay with bayside view rooms, pool, wedding venue and relaxation areas. We come to Protea Saldanha every 3 months for mini escapes with our toddler for about 3 to 4 days. Service is impeccable and some of the most happy and friendly hotel staff I've ever met. Security, front desk, housekeeping, dining and bar, everyone is polite and welcoming. They especially treat my toddler very well and engage with him that it makes us feel very much at home. Rooms are clean, spacious and comfortable with large windows and door to the garden patio areas. Coffee and tea is available with a mini fridge. The AC makes it nice on hot days. Dining and bar areas are classy and have great views of the bay. Breakfast in the morning is buffet style with plenty to select from with vegetarian options and meat selections. Bar is great and we typically order some of the best chips/fries in the area. I'm don't believe high chairs are available we haven't seen them but we just bring our bumbo. There are rooms under the dining area and can be annoying hearing chairs slide back and forth and the noise is not suitable for those who have children who nap or are light sleepers. Just call beforehand and request to not have a room under the dining area. Front desk is great to work with as we usually request a specific room that is best with our toddler and they are most accommodating. They now offer Duplo Lego toys for kids to borrow during the stay and it was an absolute hit with our little one. Only suggestion would to have plastic containers instead of glass for safety reasons. Maintenance is quick to respond we had a light go out and they came and fixed it with no problem. The manager we've met once and you can tell they love the job and staff. I would love to see Marriott invest in this property and do some anasthetic maintenance and sprusing up. The bathrooms could use some remodeling, some facets are right on the edge of the sink so it makes a mess, tile work and caulking, etc. But even these little things this place is amazing and worth it. There is off road parking patrolled by security but it's limited when the hotel is full. The pool is clean, they have a outdoor chess set and play area for kids. Must keep an eye on little kids as there is no fence between the play and garden areas and the water. There is a Spar shop down the road, Captains Cabin is a short walk for dining and cup of cake for coffee. Darling Brewery is not local but it's a pleasant drive to visit from Saldanha. Overall this place is perfect for a family get away. The staff make the experience even better. I love it here and I hope many more people will enjoy Protea Saldanha like we have.

  Absolutely terrible. Ruined our weekend

  We travelled as family to explore Saldanha and Langebaan area. Our booking was telephonically. Upon arrival no parking was available. We were made to park in a makeshift area in front of the stinking dustbin area. Our family room for four was tiny - the two double beds filled the whole room. The bathroom was tired and the bath/shower was cramped. The interleading door to the adjacent room was not soundproof, resulting in us having to listen to every word of the noisy lot next door. We tried to order room service. We were at first told that we had to go to the crowded restaurant to order and fetch our food ourselves. Then, the manager (Sylvia) said that she will send up a menu and an ice bucket to our room. None arrived. Half an hour and three calls later a waitress brought us a b&w photocopy page with 3 options, however, she could not take our order. Still no ice. Another call to Sylvia, who told us that she was busy but that she would call back. She never did. We eventually, more than 2 hours later, managed to get food. Next morning at breakfast we had to queue to get a table. We spoke to a manager who showed us to a table with only 2 chairs in the lounge. Our request for twi more chairs was ignored. We fetched chairs from outside ourselves. Then, even after hailing three different waiters, we waited 40 minutes just to be served. Only when we called the restaurant manager was our table set and 10 minutes later we got coffee. We had to repeatedly ask for basic things like cutlery, sugar, spoons, butter. We only managed to finish our breakfast at 12:15. We often stay at Protea Hotels, but Saldanha Protea Hotel will NEVER see us again.

  Beatifully located hotel

  The hotel is located very close to the water. Bay facing rooms offers stunning views. The hotel is very clean and neat, staff very upbeat. It was my s3rd time however I was still impressed by the facility and the service.

  Protea Hotel with a view in Saldanha

  Great service, friendly staff and lovely view and rooms. We received a free upgrade and our stay was great, from the barman to the restaurant staff and reception made you feel welcome. Free Parking available.
