  I stayed at the Protea Hotel for two nights while in Lusaka for business. I had a reservation at the InterContinental however I was unable to stay there due to a shortage of rooms. Cancelled flights meant that guests were not leaving the InterContinental. They arranged my reservation and transportation to the Protea. The staff at the Protea were friendly, welcoming and helpful. The rooms were spacious and clean. The air conditioning unit in the room was noisy. I ate at the restaurant and the food was good. The hotel is conveniently located close to two shopping malls.

  Dissapointing Stay at Protea Hotel by Marriot Lusaka

  The hotel did not have internet connection for two days following check-in. Keeping in-touch with family was impossible. Constant power cuts without reliable backup generator made the situation worse.

  Clean rooms + excellent service

  I stayed in three different rooms over the course of two weeks and enjoyed each one. The staff was always willing to help. And the breakfast buffet was delicious! So many choices, from bread and fruit to omelettes and sausages and vegetables and pastries.

  Excellent service

  Great location. Staff so friendly and welcoming and accommodating. Despite there being no room service, they were still able to bring us food to the room one night when we couldnt make it to the restaurant. Nicer rooms than the Tower next door Only complaint is that the car park is too small. We found a space but friends the next day struggled.

  Stay somewhere else when visiting Lusaka

  I'm a loyal Marriott guest so it was natural to book this hotel when visiting our college son who is completing his studies in Zambia and who I hadn't seen for 18 months. I booked a room with two queen beds for my husband, my son, and me. Imagine my surprise when I learned upon check-in that I would need to book a second room since my son is over the age of 12. My husband and I were exhausted from our travel from the U.S. and my son was concerned that we were being taken advantage of because we were from the U.S. I went ahead and booked the second room because we needed to get some rest! The rooms were very average and for the price of the two rooms, I think we've could've stayed in one room at a better hotel where we could've remained together. I was very disappointed. The personnel were polite but didn't seem to be inclined to offer even a nominal discount on the second room or provide another amenity which would've taken the sting of having to pay for the second room. I wish I had stayed somewhere else!
