Great! Would definitely recommendStayed here for two nights towards the end of September. It was a really lovely stay and the cherry on the cake was the can do anything for you attitude of the front desk staff, and of the family who own it especially Anita herself. Rooms are simple but stylish, the pool was just right (not too busy when we were there so no problem getting a lounger) and the food was delicious. The cherry on the cake would be some kind of irregularly regular shuttle down to the beach, or as close as you can get, as its quite a schlepp from the hotel to it, and especially back up (back up hill that is) on a hot day. But thats not a detraction, merely a suggestion that would make things perfect and maybe walking up and down to the beach is good for you to walk off at least a few cannoli and arancini kilos .

Stunning casual and family-run placeAnita and her family not only provided the best conceivable service to us while at the hotel, we've been helped on how to get to the island and experienced utmost flexibility where a delay made us miss our ferry. Once in the capable hands of Anita's dad who picked us up, our island relaxation began. Esp the food and the interior design made this one of, if not the best, boutique hotels we've stayed at. I've looked at all hotels (with a decent rating) across the Aeolian islands and chose this one (not to regret it). Attention photographers: capturing eruptions from nearby Stromboli quite possible from your balcony (we had a room on the upper level) with a good tele lens. This on top of the incredible views from the hotel esp incl the hotel furniture for nice compositions.

3rd time back and planning on a 4th visit! If you are currently googling hotels in the Aeolian Islands, Sicily, Italy, Europe, the worldstop now and put your laptop, phone, tablet down as if you are reading this, then this is the hotel to book. I have done my fair share of travelling around the world, and I have to say this is in my top 3 hotels of all time. If you want relaxation, amazing pool area, incredible food, and more importantly, a massive warm welcome from such a fantastic and amazingly friendly family and staff, then you must come here as it is a complete no brainer. This is easily my no. 1 hotel in Europe. The Principe is based on incredible and professional customer service from all the staff, and they work so hard to make your holiday perfect. Theres Marica who makes the most amazing cocktails with a smile on her face, Anna at dinner (keep on going with the English classes as you're doing great!), Miriam and Federica on reception who are just utterly brilliant in sorting stuff out (you both were absolute gems with sorting out my hydrofoil when there were major problems and I will never forget that with your first class way of keeping me informed every few hours and being ahead of the curve all the time with information etc!) and then the family; Anita who is the perfect host, always a really good laugh, and always a joy to have a conversation with, Filippo who makes the best pizzas and bread ever and is a great laugh too(!), Silvana who is just exceptional in the kitchen making the most incredible Italian home cooked food ever, and Francesco who I always enjoy having little conversations here and there! They are literally the friendliest family you can ask for, and the atmosphere that they have created there is something special. Also, the cleaning staff who are just super-efficient and do a great job. If I have missed out anyone, then I apologise as you were just great too and its not a reflection on what you have done/not done! The hotel is situated in a little village on the island which is so peaceful. Sitting by the pool with a cocktail / beer on the most comfortable sun loungers means you are likely to drift off for the afternoon. The only downside is trying to drag yourself away from the pool area as its so great. The food is something else here too. The dinners are served on a big communal table with a structured course list, and Silvana really makes the magic here. The value for money is exceptional too. My highlights were spaghetti with rocket pesto sauce and mussels, and the catalana of shrimps was completely outrageous, not to mention the homemade pineapple ice cream and cannoli! Breakfasts are fantastic too with a wide selection of hot and cold food. If you want to mix it up with trying local restaurants and some small bars, there are a few in Malfa nearby, so it gives you additional options too if you want an occasional change of scenery, but with Silvana doing the cooking, I would advise to probably go out in the evenings to a minimum! Rooms are really well decorated and fresh looking; comfortable beds, air conditioning that works effectively, and spacious. Bathrooms are great too, and great toiletries provided in ample sizes. In terms of COVID, this hotel has this completely spot on too, with so much space around the pool and in other areas of the hotel, so social distancing was probably done here before COVID actually started! This is an utter gem of a hotel and a real find! When you do read all the reviews and think wheres the catch, there is literally none! Its an absolute must visit, and I am already planning on my 4th trip back for next year!
