Stay awayThe hotel was not maintained for years!! Everything looks old, the walls and the furniture need paint. I understood that the owner is not spending any money on it and that is why it is so neglected.

Fantastic location!Booked this through our travel agent and was very happy with the location - its right in the centre of town one street over from central walking street. Hotel rooms were basic 3 star - clean and bathroom was full size and clean. Really the location is what its all about and really impressed us as you walked out the door and were right in the action. Lots of options for restaurants all around. Reception staff didn't speak too much english but it was fine. Cost to do laundry was crazy - but we found that all over China.

Great location, decent rooms, but you're on your ownThis hotel's central location, amid streets good for walking and shopping, is the main attraction here. The room where I stayed, in the Ginza (new) building, was of decent size, with a very nice bathroom, and a soft, comfortable bed (rare in China, where most beds are quite hard); the wallpaper, rug and windows were a bit dingy, but nothing too bad. The room smelled of smoke (common in China), but I was told that the no-smoking rooms lacked internet service. The Internet connection in my room worked, but was frustratingly slow at times. Very few of the service staff speak much English, so you may be on your own getting a taxi or finding a supermarket (right across the main boulevard). After a month in China I've seen a lot of breakfast buffets, and this was one of the worst, with almost nothing for Westerners. Get real orange juice and a breakfast pastry at one of the two nice bakeries down the street to the right of the entrance. Overall, I bet you can do better in Chengdu for the price, but this is an acceptable hotel if central location is paramount.

Great locationThe old part of the hotel is rather run down and old looking but the rooms were clean. The bed was somewhat hard but comfortable if staying a few nights. The rooms were a good size and full size bathroom. The people at the front desk were friendly and helpful and a few spoke some English. The breakfast was ok but not many Western choices and the dinning area was in the new hotel on the Ginza side. The location was great close to the pedestrian street and many choices for eating and shopping, 2 blocks away walking distance to the Sichuan opera performance. For the price and location it was ok and would stay there again
