Looking for the star(s)It was my first visit here, even though I have known the Seehof since my childhood. You may say it's a historical hotel, you may even call her a legend here in Davos, but what I have found wasn't exactly legendary. I still can't believe that this is a 5 star house. Good things first: excellent reception staff, especially also the apprentice. Smiling and courteous staff at breakfast, but due to the workload not really attentive. Breakfast: for me and most travelers always a highlight. Corona killed it: No more buffets, no more endlessly joyous moments. You are being served, everybody gets the same. Sure, nice. But as vegetarian I can only leave the meat untouched and ask my self will it be recycled for the next guest? The bread was not really fresh, especially when sliced it tasted like it was prepared the evening before. Absolutely un-5 star-like. So part Corona is to blame, part the hotel. The atmosphere was a bit strange and it seemed that a lot of people are heavily disturbed by the current crisis. My room was looking very, very old I felt like having been transferred to the middle ages. Heavy wood everywhere - wow, I expected Robin Hood to enter any time. The rest of the room was a mixture from the different ages of the building, but not really stylish. Otherwise OK. The mini bar wasn't cooling, but heating? The cleaning of the room was a bit strange. I had to ask for it?!? 5 stars? All in all no 5 star experience, nothing special, it seemed they are lacking staff. Pity! A detail: when entering the garage from the elevator it was always heavily smelling of smoke from the attached ashtray. Not really glamorous... why is it allowed to smoke in the garage? Corona: - disinfectants at Reception, otherwise I did not see any. Markings on the floor, which where ignored by passing guests. - breakfast: lost its charm completely, but OK. The breakfast room was too small for a large group, other guest simply got lost. - cleaning: I never say any public cleaning, for instance of the elevator or hand rails etc. Just the stairs outside were cleaned with water, which probably had nothing to do with Corona

Hotel does not live up to its promisesSeehof hotel in Davos is a big disappointment: dont believe the pictures in the advertisement. The hotel is not situated in front of a charming lake, but at one of the most busy streets of Davos. Car traffic, loud motorbikes is what you will hear during the night. If you have a room towards the back, you will here the noise of a garbage site, including empty bottles thrown into the bin, including on Sunday at 8.00 am! The hotel is understaffed, the owner obviously prioritizes cutting costs over customer service. Staff effort to make up for this was laudable, but insufficient. The restaurant is disorganized, we were required by each breakfast and dinner to change table, obviously the better ones were reserved for more relevant customers. The hotel is clearly overrated, we will not come back. Henri Getaz

professional staff: It can make the differenceI arrived in Davos on july 11th in the evening starting from Milano in the early afternoon riding my Harley Davidson under a sort of tropical storm in Italy and under a chilly rain between Sankt Moritz and Davos reaching the top of the Fluelapass at 6 degrees with a t-shirt and a summer leather jacket... when I arrived at the hotel after 5 hours in those conditions I was really beyond my limits. At the reception they probably understood the situation and they offered me an upgrade of the room and the garage for the bike. Bike that I layered on its left side on the ramp to the garage entry: another person from the staff (a biker with a KTM, he told me) helped me raise it up... without laughing! I appreciated it... The room was large and cosy with a balcony right in front of the small lake and the Parsenn peak. The Spa was really something and a Finnish sauna at 85 degrees helped my old bones get rid of all the humidity accumulated during the day. Breakfast was definitely delicious and it was the right start for a beautiful sunny sunday up and down many Swiss passes before riding back to Milano. This is the demonstration that a professional staff can make the difference in a hotel. I'll come back again next week end.

No soul, no charmDespite being the oldest hotel in Davos, there is little to experience of the remains of the spirits of the times of the belle epoche. People who expect a five star and classy experience will be disappointed. The place is not more than a heart and soulless congress hotel. Those that are willing to pay a high price for the vicinity to the slopes may find it very convenient, everybody else will find disappointment. Sad and unfortunate, considering the history this house and the people running it could tell. It would need so little to present the long history of this house, others in the same town manage to do this so brilliantly. The staff are friendly, but not attentive. The rooms are clean, the food in the restaurant is good. The breakfast at the buffet lacks fantasy and taste. Three days in a row, the same cakes and no natural yoghurt. And the worst was, that dogs were allowed to be taken right to the buffet. This in times of Covid19! The spa lacks a concept, it seems to be crammed in as much as possible to satisfy the skiing customers. May be that the management wants to achieve exactly what we felt was missing. At least it does look like, when reading the standardised answers to similar comments made by fellow guests. A chance missed, is a chance lost.

Disappointing restaurant brings down the hotelI have recently stayed in the Hotel Seehof twice in the last two weeks. The hotel is in a great location close to the Parsennbahn, the rooms are spacious and I was allocated rooms at the back so thought it was quiet. The sad disappointment was the restaurant food for the evening meal. I am not sure if this is COVID related but both meals I had were awful, one not cooked and the other over cooked. Sadly other were also complaining at the same time so I feel it was not just me, some people did not even get what they ordered but something completely different. At the moment I would not return until you can eat outside of the hotel.
