Run down old 80,s roomsFront desk service is ordinary with attitude. Guess they hate working there ? Its basic and old .They havent spent a cent on the place for years it seems. Its close to the town so you can walk so thats a good thing. They dont have breakfast on either

Terrible customer service. Rude staff.I had a booking to stay at the Potshot on Jan 6th. I've stayed here once before and had a poor experience (dirty bed sheets and smelly bins outside the doors), but that was back in 2012 and thought I'd give them a second chance. I'm from Melb and because of the COVID situation, I was trying to do the right thing by putting off booking my accommodation as late as possible in case of any changes to domestic travel. I was due to fly from Melb to WA this morning (Jan 1), however the announcement made yesterday (hard border into WA) has prevented me from entering the state. I called the Potshot straight away (a week before my stay), however their "policy" is 14 days cancellation notice to be given a refund. I understand that's their "policy", but in the middle of a pandemic I would have expected them to be somewhat lenient. I called up and spoke to a girl to cancel my booking to be told straight out "sorry can't do it". To avoid any confrontation, I requested to discuss with a supervisor on duty. Ended up on the phone to Kim, who was extremely rude and was not willing to compromise. She was almost laughing at the situation. She wouldn't even give me a credit so I could postpone my stay. I would have booked in again in the next few months, as well as add more dates to my stay. After this extremely disappointing experience, I'll never be staying at the Potshot again, as my money is obviously more important to them than giving their guests a positive experience. If they were fully booked, and losing business from my cancellation, I can understand why they wouldn't do it, but I was told it was a quiet period, so I feel ripped off from the whole experience. They have my $75, but that's all they'll ever get out of me again. I guess they rely on backpackers who will only stay once. I would expect businesses who are trying to attract travellers to support them in 2020 to have at least a tiny bit of empathy and compassion. I can deal with losing my hard earned cash, but please Potshot, if you care about your patrons, don't treat them like you treat your bed sheets.

Jonathan DI had a booking for the 5,6,7,8 for myself and 2 friends and due to new covid restrictions between Victoria and WA we cant get in. The potshot would not even do the right thing and refund the money for the a room, its really bad form when the reason we cant get there is out of our hands

Not flashy but perfectly adequateArrived 20mins before check in time. Reservation staff wasnt impressed and told us with a sigh that our room was not ready, without even asking for our name. Not to worry, we are on holidays, and she must have had a rough day! We went off to see some sights. The second time round, staff was much friendlier and very helpful. We had a budget standard, room had a bed, tea/ coffee making facilities, bar fridge, tv and small wardrobe. You get two bath towels and a bath mat. When we enquired about a hand towel, we were told they do not provide that as people tend to pinch them! However the lovely lady gave us an extra towel instead. The resort rooms are quite spread out and parking spots were huge. The pool near the restaurant is small, doesnt have any shade so it doesnt encourage a long stay just adequate for a quick dip. There is another pool but we didnt check that one out. Ate at the restaurant, food was good although restaurant part is quite warm. There is air con at the bar but a it could get a bit noisy. No wifi and not sure if its the Exmouth area but Telstra mobile data is extremely a patchy to almost non existent - first world problem . Not a flashy place, but good value for a short stay.

Unexpected Hotel Quarantine made pleasant by great food and excellent serviceWe were unexpectedly forced to self-isolate at Potshot, as Victorians holidaying in Exmouth when the government retrospectively closed the borders on NYE. The staff at Potshot did everything they could to make our stay as comfortable as possible given the circumstances. They were very kind and helpful, e.g. offering to bring us games to entertain ourselves, running shopping errands and even giving us a discount for the extra nights we had to stay there. Genuinely nice people and excellent food.
