Decent Accomodations in the Center of Imperatriz

Recommended as the best hotel in Imperatriz, this facility is well appointed and comfortable, with good wireless internet service. The restaurant menu is somewhat limited, as is the wine list, however the food ordered was well prepared and flavorfull. The caipirinhas were above average, but the service in the restaurant somewhat below avarage. The breakfast buffet (included) was ample to extensive, with an above average variety variety of offerings. The hotel has a secure parking facility with a 24 hour guard.

Overpriced and average service and very poor english

According to Tripadvisor this is the best hotel in town. If this is true, the other hotels must be quite terrible. Some, but not all of the rooms of this hotel have recently been renovated. The rooms are very big. I was lucky with room 311 in the third floor. It has recently been modernized. My colleague in room 510 was not so lucky. His room was not modernized yet. The furniture in his room was still in the look of the 1980's and his room was not prepared for the needs of the modern business traveller, with enough power-outlets to charge Cell phone, Laptop and other portable devices. My colleague in the 5th floor hat to unplug either the TV or the refrigerator because there are not enough wall-outlets. While the speed of the free wireless in the 3rd floor was sometimes acceptable, in the 5th floor it was simply useless. In my room the placement of the electric light switches was vey odd and inconvenient. There was no central light switch nearby the bed. Each time, I wanted to switch off or on the main light in the room I had to get up from the bed and take a relatively long hike to the entrance door of the room where the only light switch was located. I only used the restaurant of the hotel for breakfast. The quality of the food and the choices were rather limited. Another annoying thing was that the key-cards of the rooms frequently de-magnetized. It happened several times that I had to return to the reception, to re-code my keycard to be able to enter my room, which was a burden, because there is only one very slow elevator. The key problem is especially convenient, when you urgently need to go to the bathroom. Due to the giant construction project in this city (the worlds largest cellulose and paper factory is currently being built nearby Imperatriz, which was also the reason for my visit) there is currently a hike in the demand for hotel rooms in this city and most places are permanently booked out and the hotels have taken advantage to abusively rise their prices. Accordingly I can not affirm that I got good value for money in this hotel. Unfortunately there are not many other options. I had no time to use the pool, but it's appearance was not too inviting anyway. There was a lot of photoshop done to the pictures of the pool area in the official web-site of the hotel. Their english skills are also quite questionable. The sign at the door saying in portuguese "Por favor nao perturbe" (please do not disturb) was translated into "please make up the room now". If you like a good expresso coffee, the only way to get one, is to bring along your own coffee-machine, like I did. As a matter of fact, in the whole city is very difficult to find a decent expresso coffee. No Starbucks yet and not even McDonald and McCafé are present in Imperatriz yet.

Not the cheapest in town... thankfully!

Infrastructure is not a strong point in Imperatriz. The area is developing but still poor and in dire need of major capital investments. That applies to hotels in the city. Posseidon does not offer outstanding luxury, but it seems to be better funded than other places. It is clean, safe and enjoyable. Location is very central. The breakfast is nice and food quality is above average. The gym is tiny, but there are 2 functioning treadmills and an elliptical machine + a few free standing weights. It may not be the best value hotel you'll ever stay in, but staying anywhere else would be a whole different experience that I would not recommend if you're travelling on business or if you are used to "Western Standards".

    Recomendable
