Good Stay - No SurprisesThe choice of accommodations in Courtenay / Comox seem to go from one spectrum to the other - either cheap & run down or super expensive & fancy. The Port Augusta is inbetween. Older place, but well maintained. Clean and good location. I stayed in the 400 series of rooms ( the cheap rooms - $89) and they are housed in a cinderblock, half underground bunker sort of building. Room was a little dingy, but quiet and clean. There are nicer rooms available with balconies and such for more money. Continental breakfast was in a tiny room (only 4 tables) behind the office - guests were struggling for space. Food basic, but OK. Room was a little pricey for what I got, but adequate.

Good locationRoom was kind of small and dated. Bed was comfortable but I found the pillows to be too big, puffy wise. We had to go outside to the breakfast room. Breakfast was very basic, toast, muffins, yogurt, cereal and bananas. Good location, close to everything. We found the hotel to be very quiet even though you are on a main street.

Not recommended. Room condition was much lower than we expected, did not feel comfortable staying there. We booked a room at the Port Augusta Inn and Suites based on positive online reviews. When we arrived we found that the room they had reserved for us was not pet-friendly and we had our cat with us. This non-pet room seemed clean and in good repair. Unfortunately they were not able to provide us with an alternate, pet-friendly room that met our standards. The only available rooms were quite run down, with strong odors, Cigarette burns, fresh dirt, and stains on the bedding, etc. In addition, there were several people hanging about outside their rooms who I later learned were area homeless people being housed here by the government due to Covid-19. We are happy with our decision to not stay here.

On The Cusp2 levels of rooms. 3 buildings on one site. Our room was in main building 2nd floor. + very clean + Fairly new. + Staff very helpful + Room was standard, 2 queens. + Continental breakfast Out lying buildings look tired, running down. Some of the out lying buildings are rented long term.

This place will toughen you upAn absolute world class dump of a place. I've stayed here several times when I was visiting friends in Comox and just when you thought they couldn't shock you any further with their awfulness the previous visit, they manage to pull another shocker out the bag. The first time I stayed here there were no lights in the accommodation block - I had to shuffle around in the dark by the light of my phone looking for my room. The last time I stayed here I seemed to have been located amongst a bunch of rooms rented out to a load of alcoholic laborers. A magical experience. The last time the rooms were decorated I think flares and mullets we're all the rage. My mate was offered the Management job here years ago and after he looked the place over decided he'd remain unemployed rather than taint his resume. I remember the AC sounded like it was about to explode and the fire alarm in my room kept going off when I cooked a meal - so they bagged it!! Breakfast was a bowl of cornflakes and a boiled egg. Scrumptious. The staff were cheerful enough but give me strength.. An absolute pearler of a dive. Bless 'em.
