  Fabulous Festive Food

  Excellent menu for both lunch time and evening. We have just tried the lunch time offering and were not disappointed with anything. The food was superb, the staff are really friendly, the dining room was decorated beautifully and we couldn't fault a single thing. Already looking forward to our next visit to work our way through the rest of the menu!

  Attractive Hotel

  Stayed for one night which was fine. We were given a room which was at the front overlooking the main road and a view of the cathedral which I must admit I wasnt going to spend a long time looking at from the window. The room was fine nice decor and bathroom but it had one of the smallest double beds I have seen for a long time. Asking for another room the staff were very accommodating and we had a slightly smaller room with a proper bed at the rear. The decor is well done and relaxing but the pillows are a little bit uncomfortable and linens are not of the highest quality but all in all we would stay here again as for the price we thought it quiet reasonable. Cant understand why there is no Nespresso machine or fridge just your naff kettle and bags of tea coffee though full marks for providing still and sparkling water its not exactly nice to drink at room temperature. Burger in the bar was good and again nice decor and comfortable, service was good.

  Poets Christmas

  The team at Poets House accommodated us at very short notice when the governments roulette wheel meant we had to cancel plans to go further from home and for that we were very grateful in itself but not only did they rustle up two of their best rooms but also squeezed us in (in a Covid secure way, I hasten to add) for dinner on Christmas Eve and Christmas luncheon. Everything was lovely- the rooms warm, spacious and comfortable with wonderful bathrooms, and there were plenty of festive touches and minimal coronafuss. A big thank you to all concerned, and my advice to readers - do treat yourself to a meal or stay here when you are in Ely!

  Great Location lovely room

  We booked a superior room with the bath in the room, we were not disappointed we overlooked the green and the views to the cathedral. Low level lighting provided a lovely room ambience, the bathroom was a nice size with a great shower. The bar area & dining room were very nice. The breakfast was really tasty lovely bacon and it all tasted fresh. Considering Covid -19 there was plenty of hand sanitiser around & everyone observing the rules.

  Christmas Day Lunch

  Thank you Poets House for making our Christmas Day lunch so wonderful. Everything was perfect from our splendid welcome, table setting and decorations, friendly atmosphere and amazing cuisine. It was the best Christmas Day restaurant lunch we have ever had and nothing could be faulted.
