    Good for one night!

Its a house in the middle of a jungle. About 500 meters from the main road. I liked it but not every body might do. It basic, no frills, you have a bed, toilet, wifi, and a small restaurant that serves limited menue. Nearby you can enjoy a a lake view and someeace of mind! Staff are freindly, make sure you try thier own passion fruit?

    A Glorified House

This was a mistake. We stayed in 7 hotels / guest houses/ Bungalows/Army Bungalows in our 5 week stay in Sri Lanka and this was the worst. The total stay was booked online prior to the stay and deposits made 30 days prior to stay. when we arrived here at 4pm with a group of 9 , we first couldnt find the place as it was only a house. We were looking for a guest house or a hotel. The 2 story house had the ground floor full of long term boarders who were locally employed . Though we had no disturbances from them during our stay , this was never mentioned in the web site. Our floor was below the third floor still being constructed and was dangerous with kids around. the unfinished stairs leading to 3rd floor was blocked by a piece of wood only. There were 4 bedrooms facing each other and were big and as mentioned in the web site had attached bathrooms and 2 mosquito nets in 3 rooms. we had to use our mosquito repellent. There was another boarder in the front room , who had his door open and had his tele on and it was so noisy that we had to request him , if he could shut his door , so that we can sit in the lounge and continue a conversation. He basically could see all that was going on in the lounge / meal area and the ladies were feeling uncomfortable. He got his meals to his room and watched tele all afternoon and in to the night. We checked out early morning. The food was average but the prices were not. the price doubled from take away to served on the table. we even had to request a price change when it was discovered they had overcharged a meal provided for a child. Later on it was mentioned that this is a home stay and not a guest house and we are not certain if this place is approved by the tourist board.

Ok in need, but you should be able to do better

The rooms was not ready, and the bedcloth looked dirty. The shower didn't work properly, but they fixed so that we at least could shower while we was out eating. They are still building the 3rd floor, so it felt like living on a construction place. The eating area and the lounge was so close to one of the guest who lived there on a more permanent basis and it felt really intrusive to "share" the space with him, and look into his room while we were in the common area. The thing I hated the most was when we left, we had to argue for a long time since the managment first claimed that we hadn't prepayd, even though we showed accout trancripts and email-confirmations, and later they wanted to charge more because the online rate was an old one... :/

    Great for family stay

We stayed here for 2 nights in June 2014 with our 5 year old son. The room was big and clean and our son loved the 'beach' at the nearby lake. The family at the hotel were incredibly friendly and lovely to kids. They showed us around their fruit/vege/herb garden and let our son grate a lot of coconut in the kitchen and play shopkeeper in the shop at the front. They also took us to a movie night at a nearly Buddhist temple which was pretty unique. They also served the best durian we've ever had.
