Poor facilitiesDefinitely not a 3 or a 4star. Only one bar open at a time, ie if your sat on the front veranda during the afternoon you have to walk through the hotel around the pool to the taverna bar. Food basic and set up didnt flow. Not set up for All Inclusive. Staff and sunshine made the holiday.

Very well prepared for guests amid the pandemicWe arrived very late at night but reception was welcoming(ftom behind perspex screens and masks).we were checked in speedily and shown to our room buy one of the staff. Cases were put by the door so we were the only ones to enter the room.We were very happy with our room, away from the main hotel with very nice balcony and view. The room was clean,we were not expecting the cleaner as advised on the covid info but she came every other day which was nice but really not needed. Meals were very well organised, plenty of outdoor tables, all spaced out and thoroughly cleaned after each guest had vacated. The buffet was also organised if you didn't mind waiting sometimes. The staff served the buffet from behind perspex screens and then passed you your plates. The only thing that i would have liked were large info cards above each food item , sometimes the plate was full then you got to the end of the buffet and spotted something else you might have prefered. All the waiters and waitresses were lovely, efficient and friendly. I must make a special comment about Dimitrios from the upstairs bar. After the first night he remembered our names and what we drank,( we hope your babies arrived safely!!). As others have said, the area was a little run down but the hotel was great. We enjoy walking so the walk into town was no problem and the opposite way to where we stayed many years ago and beyond. Just down the road was a convenient,car/cycle hire place. very reasonable.

Definitely not a four star platinum all inclusive hotel - TUI misrepresentationWe stayed at the Hotel Platanista in mid-October as a last-minute transfer due to COVID-19 from a brilliant TUI hotel in Turkey that we have stayed at a few times before (TUI Blue Andiz) we now realise how spoilt we have been. I dont normally write long reviews, and certainly not this negative, but I feel I must do, due to the experience we had. Our stay was the last week of the season, which may explain some things in this review, but doesnt excuse them. Rooms - like the main areas of the hotel, the rooms are dated, but clean the housekeeping ladies are lovely. For an all-inclusive hotel, it was disappointing to find that we needed to pay for the room safe and pool towels. Food meals were all served in the main restaurant and were buffet style, with guests being served by the staff due to COVID. In the evenings there were labels explaining what everything was, and these would have been helpful at lunchtime too. The food was good there was lots of choice, it was piping hot, and the desserts were the best Ive had in an all-inclusive hotel. We were expecting to have one meal at the a la carte Taverna, but this wasnt open during our stay, which I dont recall being told about in advance. The waiters were friendly and helpful. Bars - There were three bars in the hotel one by main reception which was open in the evening, one next to the main restaurant which was open at lunchtime and in the evening and the pool bar, which was open during the day (and I believe that this normally turned into the taverna during the evening). We found the ladies who worked at the pool bar delightful, but the bar men in the other two bars were less than helpful Im not sure if this is due to them following hotel policy, but we found their customer service lacking. Drinks these were extremely disappointing no sparkling wine available for all-inclusive guests, only red, white and rose wine available, and Id say only the latter was drinkable. Without exception, every single mixer I had was flat, whether it be tonic for gin, or coke we couldnt understand it, as the bottles were in date. Maybe this is because of how they were stored, but I wasnt the only guest to comment on this. I heard a guest complaining about the flat drinks to reception one day, and she commented that the staff were drinking fizzy drinks from glass bottles whilst serving flat drinks to the guests. I hadnt noticed this, but on our last day I did notice a large amount of glass bottles by the pool bar first thing in the morning, despite never having seen a mixer being served to a guest from a glass bottle the whole week, so maybe this was true. Availability - I found it particularly frustrating that all of the bars would regularly run out of something e.g., local brand baileys we were told it was because it was the end of the season, not my problem?! If TUI are still selling holidays to a hotel, I expect the service to be just as good at the end of the season as at the beginning. I lost count of the amount of times a member of bar staff suggested I try one of the other bars to see if there was a particular drink as a paying guest, I found the expectation that I would walk around the hotel in search of a particular drink rather than a member of staff restock their bar to be totally unacceptable, and particularly irritating when often no other bar was open. All Inclusive Option - I dont believe that this hotel is set up for all-inclusive guests and I feel that we were treated as second class citizens. No sparkling wine this was for paying guests only, which I could have sworn I also was? There was a typed sign listing the six cocktails that AI guests could have it would have been helpful to list the ingredients too, as I had to resort to Google to work out what a Tropical Surprise contains. Generally, I was left feeling as if I was trying to order drinks that I hadnt paid for, when in fact the only difference was that I had paid for them in advance. My partner was told that as an AI guest, he couldnt have a tomato juice, The reason? Because he MIGHT make a bloody Mary with it, which wasnt one of our six cocktails we could have disgusting. This is despite us being able to order vodka separately in reality he only wanted a tomato juice, but what difference does it make to the hotel? Its just this type of attitude that incensed me. I tried to order two tequila sunrises from the reception bar on our last night, but theyd run out of tequila (of course they had). The bar man eventually called the restaurant bar and confirmed that they had some, so I walked there, only to be told they had no orange juice left. So thats an AI hotel refusing to open a carton of concentrated orange juice, despite there still being guests in the hotel I was speechless. I also found it particularly off putting when enjoying what was left of my lunch to see and hear the electronic shutters came down around the bar and the waiting staff locking the doors of the restaurant not quite the ambience I was hoping for. Pool there was a large family pool and a smaller relaxed pool both were fine with plenty of sunbeds. The jacuzzi and swim up bar in the smaller pool were closed due to COVID. There was an area near the pools with orange trees, which looked neglected e.g. the oranges that were all over the floor on day one were still there on day seven. The mini golf course looked like it hadnt been touched in years, as it was full of weeds. Beach this was an absolute disgrace. It looked like a patch of waste ground that hadnt been visited or looked after by any hotel staff for years. Rotting volleyball nets, sunbeds that had seen better days decades ago and dirty sand, well, what there was of it, and even this was full of cigarette butts. End of season it became apparent that the hotel was preparing to close for the winter, not just because of the lack of drinks left but because the maintenance staff were literally packing things away around you. We left the hotel on the Saturday evening and on the Thursday morning, the staff were taking away parasols and sunbeds around us by the pool! We were told we couldnt have a buffet on our last evening as there were only 13 guests, but they said they would make us a traditional Greek meal instead, which was very good. It just didnt feel great to have the hotel close around you this was not even a little bit discreet, and I would have preferred them to do this when the guests had gone! Although it was nice to get away, I feel totally let down by TUI offering this as a four-star platinum all-inclusive hotel it is far from it. TUI waited until the last possible moment to cancel our Turkey holiday, despite me calling frequently to check whether they were going to, and we ended up having to plump for this hotel as it was one of the only hotels left by that time, for the days we needed to travel. All in all, I am left feeling like TUI should offer us a discount for at least half of it, due to this absolutely not being a four star platinum or an all inclusive hotel due to the sheer number of things that we couldnt have, either because, ironically, we were all inclusive guests or because they had run out of it, or in the words of the bar staff it was finished it was total misrepresentation.

Almost end of season break!Im really sad to see any bad reviews for this hotel on here. I feel like there must be another hotel with the same name as we couldnt rye it more highly! We got a brilliant deal on Booking.com including breakfast. To be honest.. I think Im quite a fussy person but I was over the moon with our stay. It was definitely quieter as it was end of season which we liked- we had the smaller pool to ourselves for some parts of the day. We did a quiz night at the pool bar where they have lots of choice drink wise. We didnt pay for beach towels or use of the safe, it was all included in our room. I have read on here that the hotel has been undergoing/undergone refurbishment and our room seemed modern, bright and spotlessly clean. We used a shower room after we had checked out just to freshen up before our flight and the hotel has a room you can store luggage in if needed . The courtesy shower room downstairs was more dated but it was clean and everything worked fine. The staff were really friendly, and took the covid guidelines seriously, the food at breakfast as mentioned was really nice and lots of choice. We hired bikes for our whole trip from the bike rental just down the hill and we used them to cycle everywhere. The cycle path is flat and keeps you off the road. It made it really easy to go exploring. Theres so much to see and do within a short distance, There are also lots of well priced boat trips that you can arrange at the harbour. We really loved kos and we loved platanista hotel. If youre thinking about booking it... do it!
