  We paid 219$ for a "suite with terrace" for our family with 2 kids : suite is a room with two beds, a terrace shared with another room, covered with some plastic grass, table and chairs and an empty kind of a small pool or whirlpool (no idea what it was since we could not use it anyway). The lock was very questionable and the furniture had lived their life at the fullest already. No lift so you have to climb 3 stairs in a quite narrow stairwell. The sink in the bathroom was clogged and some of the lights dysfunctional, blinking /blinding and the wifi quite slow. Also we couldn't manage to find any kids channel on TV with cartoons for our tired kids to relax a few minutes. As we wanted to go to breakfast in the related restaurant outside on the sidewalk, we discovered that the hotel doors were closed, and no one in sight for a few minutes? We understood it was closed for the night with no possibility to open from inside... what happens in case of a fire? Positive points : the view on the ocean and the beach through the trees is nice, the room and bathroom were clean enough, the beds comfortable and the restaurant is delicious (although the breakfast has nothing major to offer and despite the fact that you have to eat outside in the street on the sidewalk). We were all in all very disappointed. It would have been okay for not even a third of the price we paid.

  Reasonable, clean, get what you pay for.

  One of my better stays in Hulhumalé. We stayed for 5 nights check-in quite late in the evening with a lot of luggage. The staff were extremely helpful carrying all our luggage up the stairs as there is no lift. The room was small but clean. However keep in mind that the rooms are not sound proof. You can hear your neighbors clearly and I am sure it applies the other way around also. The staff really do try their best to keep the establishment clean and looking fresh. Did not try the breakfast.

  Awesome staff

  I stay in Plankton beach for two days and it was a really wonderful experience with the very friendly staff and nice room, breakfast and direct access to the beach of property it was really wonderful experience. I would recommend to this property if anyone's stay in hulumale. Thank you boys for making my stay awesome.see you soon!

  Overpriced for a Layover Hotel

  My husband and I stayed for one evening before our speedboat to an island. I read on Tripadvisor that its better to book directly with the hotel because they include roundtrip airport transfers with a driver to avoid waiting for a taxi at the airport. When we arrived we were told their driver was on a speedboat and we would have to line up anyways to take a taxi. They did pay for the taxi but after giving them our flight info over a month ago, I thought it was strange the driver was working elsewhere. The room we stayed in was their cheapest option (given we landed at 9pm and left at 8:30am the next day). The room was so small my husband and I couldnt open our suitcases at the same time. The bathroom is so small that the shower is actually on top of the toilet and everything gets soaked once you shower. Included breakfast is cereal, coffee, eggs and a hot dog. For $112 Canadian dollars you can definitely find something that is a similar distance from the airport but not as small/overpriced as Planktons.

  Right Opposite the Beach

  From the online booking right through until our departure, the staff at Plankton Beach were polite and friendly and we were very happy with the service. A friendly driver was waiting to collect us at the airport on our arrival late in the evening. When we arrived at the hotel, my partner, three children and I were given a welcome fruit juice, and after check-in, shown to our room which was clean and comfortable. Next morning, we were served a delicious full English breakfast and right on time at 8am, we were met again by our friendly driver to be taken back to the airport to get our seaplane to the resort where we were staying. He was chatty, informative and interesting to talk to. Would definitely recommend this hotel whether for a one night stay or more. Great location, too, right across the road from the beach. Beautiful sunrise in the morning. Something to be aware of. We hadnt arrived in the Maldives with US dollars which is the preferred currency when paying or tipping and there was nowhere to exchange currency into US dollars at the airport. Fortunately, though, we were able to exchange currency into US dollars at our resort.
