  Very welcoming staff

  Had a lovely stay at the hotel. Didn't expect much based on the reviews. We stayed in a double room, very clean but basic with a better shower than some 4* hotels. A good continental breakfast & very warm and friendly staff. What more do you want? We will definitely stay again

  A little gem of authentic alpine life and superb staff

  The room was characterful in this hotel from 1713.. the staff were excellent and came and found me to give me payment cash back when they realised that Booking.com had already processed payment . They then made a superb pasta dish for me that was not on the menu. the village is charming and the museum next door miles better that the railway museum at the station.

  Mediocre food, high prices

  We stopped for lunch (party of 6 people). The location of the place was good, and the dining area in the back garden was pleasant enough. However, we were not made to feel welcome - our waiter was very unenthusiastic and unfriendly. The food was mediocre and prices were high - as an example, we paid about 15 CHF for what was essentially a few slices of unripe tomato, mozzarella, witha couple of basil leaves thrown in (it had a fancy name on the menu which unfortunately I cannot recall). This is a real shame for a place that earns its income from tourists.

  Cosy, rustic and very clean hotel in the Swiss Alps.

  Could not have expected more from this charming hotel in a little alpine village. We really enjoyed our stay at the Piz Ela. Our room was spacious, very clean, had an extremely comfortable bed and even had a balcony overlooking the charming, cobbled road and a fountain. Nadja and Pascal, the new hotel owners were extremely friendly and welcoming. We had breakfast and dinner at the Piz Ela which we enjoyed thoroughly. Breakfast offers many options such as different breads from the local bakery as well as meats, cheeses, and marmalades/jams. Everything served was of great quality.

  A Treasure

  Decorated in the traditional Swiss mountain style, the Piz Ela is a cosy and welcoming hotel with a wonderful, wood-panelled dining room and a library. The food and service were great, and guests can also dine under the huge pine trees in the garden, weather permitting. We were made most welcome and will certainly return. We especially enjoyed meeting the two hotel cats, Ruby and Lily. Highly recommended.
