    Saint Goustan with 3 kids

I'm giving this an excellent to reflect the great time that we had here. Like most of the P&V places we have stayed in, it could do with a bit of an update but apart from that it is a great place to stay. The big secret about this place is the incredible location, it is set on the edge of a gorgeous fishing village with plenty to see and do. Just across the road is the Ocearium and in front is a great beach, pier and jetty that people fish from. We got a sea facing room on the 2nd floor and had an incredible view. I recommend bringing bucket and spade, fishing net etc. It has its own car park and you can drive your car in, right up to the entrance in order to unload. There are trolleys too and you might need a Euro to use one. The rooms can get hot in the evening but we slept with the French doors wide open and had a sea breeze and relaxing sound of the sea. The good thing about the breeze is that we had no mosquitoes at all. The room is huge with a double bedroom, lounge/kitchen/dining area, separate bathroom and toilet, and on the mezzanine floor there are 2 single beds. The settee in the lounge has two single mattresses and makes a double bed and there is also a chair that folds out into a single bed. We took the mattress from under the settee and put it upstairs so that all 3 kids could sleep up there. You have to make the beds when you arrive. The kitchen comes stocked with a starter pack of detergent, sponge etc. There is a microwave, toaster, kettle, electric hob, fridge and dishwasher. There are plenty of plates, glasses and cups etc. You can hire a Nespresso machine from reception as well as buy some provisions and wine. Normally P&V have a coffee filter machine but not here. You can order croissants and bread for the morning and it can be picked up from 08:30. We did that once but then either bought food the day before or wandered into town for stuff. The residence is quite large but easy to get around. There is a table tennis table but you have to buy the bats and a ball for 7 euros, but they are then yours to keep. There is a PS3 machine in reception that the kids can play on too. Note that the reception is closed during the middle of the day. If you need to leave early in the AM then check out the day before and theyll give you the PIN number for the little safe (in the outdoor corridor near the big pool) where you can drop off your keys. The walk into town is fun and easy for little ones and just outside the residence is a good little play area. You can take the jetty on the left on the way there and back up the little hill on the way back. Our kids loved that little hill and were always running up and down it. Le Croisic is a beautiful little town (famous for fishing, oysters and clams) with loads of shops and restaurants, a harbour, a small amusement park and lots of history. Outside are 2 pools, a small paddling pool for young kinds and a deeper pool for swimming. The only challenge is that they arent next to each other if you wanted to use both. The pools are heated to an ok temperature. You can access the beach from the little pool or via the exit near the table tennis table. The sea is not too cold although there is a lot of seaweed. You can go shell picking though which is fun. One fun thing to do is join the people on the beach when the tide goes out and go clam picking. We all had a surprisingly fun time doing this. You could also buy a net and go fishing for sardines with the locals from the jetty on the way into town. For shopping there is a big supermarket (Intermarche) just after the roundabout as you enter Le Croisic where you can buy everything that you need. You can also hire bikes and a good idea is to turn right out of the residence and cycle along the coast (or even drive) and take in the rugged coastline, there are lots of cycle paths. Also, you must visit the salt museum in Batz (Musee des Marais Salants) and also visit the walled town of Guerande.

Trip to Le Croisic an experience

Le Croisic is a penninsula out on the bay of bus at. Quiet but very French and located at the end of Brittany near the mouth of the Loire. I love going here every year for the Atlantic air sea amenities and French way of life. It's very busy during the summer so I prefer to go there in September or early summer. The Pierre and Vacances complex offers their usual high quality standards to the apartment block with a lovely pool au bord de la mere.

    Never again

Pierre et Vacances Saint Goustan is a former sanatorium, recycled into a residential rental property located on the Atlantic Ocean with a nice pool and a paddling pool for children. On the corridor that leads to apartment, a red carpet that is not first youth, sometimes stained with bleach stains. Walls with a height of 5 meters with no decor. Windows with very heavy curtains which was struggling to pull the night or morning. Furniture sad, soulless, quaint, eclectic furniture with table and 4 chairs that resemble a dining room of the 50ties. Minimalist wardrobe. The mini TV (16 inches) is difficult to adjust, to use, to watch. Mezzanine with metal structure and bolts that are reminiscent of a prison. The Bathroom is correct, no separate shower however but the brush toilet was not a very clear cleanliness. Shower difficult to handle Many items are missing : where to put our bags, clothes, toilet kits, towels in the bathroom etc. Cleaning (broom, mop, bucket, vacuum cleaner, etc.) User manual gathering mode of operation of appliances No air-conditionner, etc. Conclusion:This recycled resort location is not at all suitable. This was our third very disappointing experience among various sites of "Pierre et Vacances", This will be the last one.

    Our stay in Le Croisc

We stayed in Saint Goustan Residence once more & the apartments & grounds have been updated considerably since our last visit & are now of a very high standard, especially the sofa beds which were not comfortable the last time we visited about 3 years ago. The panoramic view of the beautiful harbour from our apartment was magical. The staff were so helpful. Le Croisic has everything anyone could wish for & The Apartments & Grounds of the complex now match the town's facilities & we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. If the standard of the Accommodation continues to offer the high standard of comfort that we experienced, & the staff are as helpful we will return as often as possible. Le Croisic is one of the most perfect traditional French Harbour Towns that you could ask for. Wonderful shoreline, wildlife, shops, top class restaurants, An Oceanarium, miles of flat walking & a Cob that stretches out into the Harbour. Many interesting places to visit. A perfect Autumnal break.

    Close to beach

Situated almost on the beach and close to the very pretty and picturesque village. The place itself, at least the part where we stayed, was a bit run downed. Read somewhere it was incest built as a sanatorium. The room has big, high windows where you can see spiderwebbs at the top, curtains a bit dirty. Overall the impression is that this place has potential but has seen better days. It said there was wi-fi but there isnt. The beach was nice and quiet. We never visited the swimmingpool.
