    Overpriced, reservation not clear

We spent 2 weeks at this residence in family. It was our first time at Lacanau. Starting by the positive points : residence location is superbe, by the sea and not far from downtown. We were received by a very very kind person from the staff, who really helped us with our reservation, namely the parking. Unfortunately other people from staff were not so helpful and gentle. About the cons, we have: - overall, the place is overpriced compare to other residences around the Landaise coast - absolutely no service: no children activity, nothing. Reception opens a couple of hours per day - the room itself was clean and new, although the corridor giving access to it was very smelly, something like sewage or garbage. - the kitchen was very poorly equipped, with the strictly minimum items, although some were missing, like pasta colander - apartment placement was terrible, ground floor giving to the street. We could not eat at the balcony, no privacy at all. But worst thing was reservation. On their website, we find two different reservation pages for appartments. One of them are the apartments from Pierre et Vacances itself, and the other one are apartments at the same location (same building), but belonging to private owners who put them available during the season. No information about these two reservation modes is clearly displayed, which leads to confusion and mistakes, which happened to us. If you get those apartments not belonging to PV, you stick to the one that is available at the moment you put your order. It means it's not possible to negociate, for example, another apartment with a better view. Even wifi network from Pierre et Vacances isn't available for these gests, what I think it's particularly mean. Overall, value of money is low. Lacanau itself is a little bit more expensive than other good cities not far away on the coast. And the residence is not an exception. I do not recommend this place. It's possible to find other good options around without paying so much. PV should put clearly the conditions on their website.

Pierre & Vacances Residence Blue Marine - Lacanau Ocean

The is the second time we've syated at this resort (previously 2018), with two young children we booked a larger supperior two bed apartment with sea view this time and weren't dissapointed with Room 306 directly overlooking the sea. The apartment is a decent size (bedrooms are small but fine) and the kitchen is very well stocked with a decent dining and louinge area, bathroom with seperate w.c. It would have been nice to have some recliners on the balcony but there was a dining table outside for alfresco breakfasts. We booked a superior room which should have wi-fi; for the second time of visiting we were told there was no wi-fi apart from in the Reception which in 2020 is really unacceptable, not sure why it's so difficult to provide free wi-fi. The building is basic but is excellently located next to the beach and with it's own pool. Parking the car is a bit of a lottery, there are plenty of spaces but most are taken however you can pay for use of the underground carpark. Excellent stay and would recommend.

    Good value for money

We have just come back from a 7 night stay in a 2 bedroom apartment and were pleasantly surprised. I was a bit concerned as a lot of the other reviews mentioned the apartments being very small. I am glad we went for a 2 bed instead of a one bed as we definitely needed it with 2 adults and 2 children. The bedrooms were small however it worked well for us and the balcony was lovely and large. I wish we had paid extra for a sea view though. As others have said the beds are very hard and by the end of the week we all had bad backs but i still slept ok whilst there. The apartment was nice and clean although there was quite a strong smell in the toilet which wasn't very pleasant. The complex itself is nice and neat and tidy and well kept and the location just steps from the beach was perfect. It's also a short walk into the main town and to the supermarket and bakery. My husband took our son for a walk early every morning to pick up fresh croissants from the bakery which we then ate on the sun in the balcony. Was lovely! The main downside for us was the pool is freezing cold, not warm enough to swim in. This was really disappointing as we had a 1 and 2 year old with us and it was too cold for them so we were quite limited in what we could do with them. I wouldn't say it's the best place to come with a young family however we went for the surf for my husband which was perfect for him. Lots of board rental places nearby with reasonable prices. In summary I think you get what you pay for here. Good clean basic accommodation in a great location. I wouldn't return with the kids simply because of the local area and the lack of swimming however my husband said he'd definitely return on a surf trip.
