Great for business and leisure travelers

Piazza is right next to JR Nara station, the less busy train station in Nara. JR station, however, has better bus connection and other services. That said, Piazza Hotel Nara is a very conveniently located business hotel. It means that although it is not posh, it has all the amenities for business travelers and leisure travelers alike. We stay for two nights there while exploring this ancient capital of Japan. We love it's location being convenient to transportation while an arm's length from the hustle and bustle of tourist activities. The room is small, typical of a Japanese business hotel. If you only come back to rest, this may not be a big problem. The room is sparkling clean and comfortable. The staff in general masters English much better than average. A further point is that this hotel is relatively affordable. I think the convenience, cleanness, safety, comfort and affordability cover the general needs of travelers of all variety.

    Perfect!

I loved this hotel so much! It had the perfect size, the bed was amazing, the restroom as well. It had a nice view and just know this was my favorite hotel here in Japan. Location is perfect because its literally right next to the train station and just a few blocks away from a bunch of cute stores. Its also about a 30 minute walk from Nara Park. The staff was good too and it has a convenience store right next to the entrance of the building. I would definitely stay here again!

    Great staff, poor management policies

I must say I put off writing this review and didn't really want to. However since it still bothers me over a month later I will write it. I came here during a very very slow period and arrived at 1:30 p.m. I am well aware that the checkin is 3:00pm. I'm not an idiot, I read the checkin times. However when I arrived, I was quickly told that I could not check into the room as it was not 3:00pm but that they could take my luggage for me. Now this was when Corona had already began, and there were hardly any people in the hotel. During the evening you could even see only 6-7 rooms with the lights on. Seriously? You can't just give me the key? So I can put out my luggage, use my own bathroom, and feel ready to go out on the town without having to worry about going again to the front desk for literally no reason? Get real. I understand if I came at before noon or earlier or if it was a weekend of a full hotel. But this is just infuriatingly inconvenient and unnecessary. Management should reconsider their flexibility on this point, because they are fortunate to have lovely staff who do help with concierge, but this just ticks me off so much I have to give you 1 star. I had already seen another person with the same comment, but thought it probably wouldn't happen to me, I was wrong. V Very strict instructions from management on how to properly upset a slightly early arriving Guest.

    Close to Train Station

Paid ¥9,129 for one night through booking.com. Discount for Go To travel campaign was added. A couple of minutes walk from Nara Train Station. You have to take one elevator up to the Lobby floor and then take a separate card activated elevator to your room. We were on the 6th floor. Room is small - Japan sized - but clean and a good sized bathroom. The TV was a little small but the office desk was cozy and quite convenient for putting a laptop on. Bed was very comfy but the controls for the lights were quite intrusive when trying to prop myself up, I kept dimming the room lights. Wifi worked well. Bathroom and shower nice.
