Non-traditional Thai vacationFrom the outside, the resort is somewhat unassuming by western standards, almost modest, just off a local road. Once inside one quickly is welcomed with genuine friendliness and with a glass of violet butterfly pea iced tea which has an immediate soothing effect. The rooms are very spacious with balconies and have all the modern amenities one would expect from a luxury resort. Solid wood floors, insect screens and very comfortable beds provide the natural comfort which most western hotels can no longer provide. The plants, water lily and lotus ponds and water buffalo give it a distinct exotic flavor. The food, including a modest breakfast buffet is excellent and staff is very friendly. The pool, while showing signs of aging, is very relaxing.

Leisure at LoeiWe just wanted to escape the heat in Bangkok so we planned to visit somewhere further away and free of the city life so we booked Phunacome in Dansai, Loei province. We were lucky that week was pretty cold with temperatures as low as 7 degrees C. The hotel was situated within the mountains but not on the way up. This hotel was awarded a green hotel and many of the things done there were environmental friendly. They grew their own vegetables and the hotel and rooms were wooden-laid. The layout was full of steps along the sloping ground. The areas surrounding the hotel and breakfast area were free of cars and children can run around freely. The bedroom had a balcony overlooking a plantation and a creek. Everywhere was green and the air was fresh. Because of the windy and cool atmosphere, there were no ants, mosquitoes or flies. The room was laid with wood and window/ door frames all wooden. There was a mosquito screen too so we do not need air con although it was available. The bathroom floor was made of polished cement so it was a bit slippery and icy at night(7 degrees without heater of course) and water wasnt warm enough. Showering at night was a bit unpleasant because the water temp was inconsistent because the water was too cold for the water heater to work effectively. At night it was very quiet and the stars looked numerous. The bed was firm pillows were okay, but the only bad point was that it was hard to lock the sliding door at the balcony before going to bed. We all had a wonderful chilly sleep. In the morning breakfast was adequate with very crispy bacons and better quality food compared to the other 4 star hotels in higher end places like Khao Yai or Chiang Mai. The breakfast was wonderful. Lastly the staffs were all friendly and did their best to attend their guests. I do not recall her name but the head staff at the reception was very efficient. We will surely find time to return here and despite summer in Thailand being very hot, the staffs said that here at night the temp drops to 16 degrees C at night. So it is a very unique getaway. I miss it now and cant wait to come to Phunacome, Loei again.

Another great stay hereWe're back again after finding this resort only 6 months ago. For peace, quiet and nature this is a place to be. No change to the infrastructure or the great service since our last stay. Only 1 downer and that was the wifi was very poor. We had to use our cellphone 4G as the wifi was unbearable. 4 rooms were occupied on our first night (Saturday) and only us on our 2nd night. The food was as good as before - excellent. Breakfast is limited with choice but what there is - is really good and they will give you more if you ask. The staff were welcoming and helpful. Dan Sai is a bit off the beaten track but the countryside views are well worth the detour. And if you're looking for peace and quiet this is the place to stay. I agree with other reviews that the price of the rooms is a bit high for this area but the service and the relaxing feeling of our stay outweigh the costs. This stay (high season) we paid 3,600THB for a grand deluxe where the advertised price was 4,500THB. Our last stay we were given a 50% discount from the advertised price so it's worth phoning before booking. We enjoyed our stay again and shall return.

What a DesasterStood ever on a pool deck and in the next moment it crashed under you? Happened to us and summarises our stay. Pretends heavily to be ecofriendly (you have no chance to oversea their claim), but provide individually packed soap instead of a dispenser in the bathroom. Looks like one of these hotels which started great in first generation, then changed owner and completely lost track afterwards. After crashing in the pool deck, only front desk asked about and nobody from management showed up. This whole facility needs a refurbishment and should make a safety audit. Cannot recommend to go there with children. Finally, totally overpriced for what you get. Their homepage looks like being conserved from better days in the past.

Not impressedLooks nice. Dirty pool. No restaurant. Lots of empty rooms and put me in a room between two rooms with 5 kids after I told them I already found them noisy the moment I arrived. Won't stay here again. Have to meet a 200 word review so... hhh gff gdddfh just ugdrg hfdh hurt hredf fdet6bu6tbh uyt6dyu y6trfhi ygtvhi
