A very nice hotel in an excellent locationWe were told that we had the best room in the hotel, and I can well believe it: it was very spacious, and looked out directly on to the main square, which is quite a view. Considering how central this is, the noise level at night was very low. The restaurant is beautifully preserved, and a charming place to have breakfast. Breakfast itself was fine, although the selection was slightly smaller than one gets in some places. The staff were charming and most helpful. Wismar deserves to be better known than it is in the UK: it has been beautifully restored, and is a lovely place to spend a few days.

Very nice, comfortable InnWe spent a week-end in Wismar recently and are very happy to have booked a room at this little hotel. This hotel has only 10 rooms. The room itself was very clean as well as the bathroom, matresses and duvets very comfy. The location is perfect to tour this lovely historical little town by foot. Breakfast was perfect, fresh backed rolls and excellent coffee. All in all, very good quality for the money. I can warmly recommand.

Charming, lovely place to stayWe stayed here last week and just loved it. The rooms are small but when you consider how old this place is, it's worth it. SO charming. The beds and linens were SOOO comfortable, giving us a wonderful night's sleep. Clean, updated bathroom. The restaurant is also wonderful, with incredible food. The free breakfast is sumptuous and oh, so typically German. We will come again!

Not greatI find it hard to recommend this hotel. Other reviewers clearly had a different experience to us, but all I can do is reflect on my own. The room we had was small and not well maintained. Duvet covers were torn and one of the chairs in the room was badly stained. The shower could not be positioned, making it very hard to use and the wifi in the room did not work at all. When I reported this, the staff seemed unconcerned. The entrance to the hotel smelled of cigarette smoke through our entire stay, due to staff standing in the doorway smoking. Not great! In its favour, the breakfast was good and it's in an excellent location.

Great traditional German DishesIf you fancy something traditionally German, here's a place for you. We had Geschmorte Haxe (roast knuckle of pork) with sauerkraut and a German version of mushy peas. My wife tried a half roast duck with red cabbage and apple. We washed it down with a good local beer. Needless to say we didn't need any pudding!
