    Its not a Hotel!!!!

Question No 1: What do you call a place where everything you have to do yourself? Home right? Question No 2: What do you call a place where you pay rent on a daily basis to do things yourself?? The answer for the question no 2 is NOT A HOTEL. The petul is exactly that! A "hotel" where you pay a comparatively high amount to do everything yourself. We were greeted by a centralised telephone with the voice on the other side guiding us through the check in process. The keys are kept in a mail box unit which is opened once the lady on the other end of the phone gives you a code. Well all said and done, things were still manageable till this part. Once we reached our rooms we noticed that the beds were not made up and all the mattresses , pillows etc were kept on the dining table in a pile. We reported the same to "the lady in the phone" and we were provided other rooms which had the same problem. Ultimately decided to checkout the next day. The cherry on the topping was that we booked the hotel through Booking.com which clearly mentioned that we will pay once we were at the hotel. We opted to pay in cash while booking the hotel. We initially booked for 6 nights and after the interesting experience of the first day we decided to check out and move to an actual hotel. So when we checked in we realized that the hotel has already withdrawn the rent of 1 room for 6 nights from the card. We requested the "lady on the phone' to cancel our booking for the remaining days , which she obliged and informed that the transaction has been reversed. But to this day, I am still waiting for the credit back in my card. Although I have informed the hotel staff by mail for the same, I am unsure by when this will be done.

    depart from apart hotel :-(

I booked for four days but cancelled just after seeing the room. After booking me & my team have to stayed any how that night as we got booking in another hotel for next day. I don't know why but I had stayed in apart & apartment hotels earlier. but I had not made my bed just after entering in my room. Pillows & sheets are all kept over near by sofa. Bed covers were not available in that room. Just after seeing me & my team called to main number of hotel & the reply was this is all we have. gossshhhhhhhhhh. I am sorry to say but i would say "No" to this accommodation & this type of facility.

nice place, excellent room, interesting renovation.

They offer what many travellers are looking for and paying for: a good sized room, good bathroom, free wifi, a little bit more space, a place to sit, a little fridge, microwave and little kitchen sink. Depending on the room you rent there can be more (small cooking facility, more living space). It is nice to pay for just what you get, rather than also paying for other hotel facilities you probably will not use. Check-in is remote, and for everything else you need a supermarkt (as well public transport) is a one minute walk away (open from 0630-2100), so you can easily sneak out to get breadfast, lunch and dinner. This is an old apartment building, and the owners had the guts to redecorate the building in quite an unusual way (lots of colors inside and out), which works well in disguising that in essence this was a boring building. Finally, although the building is located right next to a busy road and a busy crossing, at least our room was surprisingly quiet (I don't recall having spent many nights in hotels being theis quiet, given the location, and I travel a lot). Overall, if you are looking for a place to stay with some useful facilities, definitely consider this place.

Great self-service hotel not far from Essen Hauptbanhoff

A really nice hotel three tram stops away from the Essen Main Station. This is a, what I would call, self service hotel. There is no reception. Instead when checking in you make a call using a phone on the wall and the operator opens a small locker with keys to the room. There is no full time staff there only the cleaning service during the day. There is also no restaurant. For me it was no problem. The room was nice and clean. There was also a small kitchen annex with a water kettle and a microwave oven. Next to the hotel is a large supermarket open from 05:00 to 22:00 as well as a McDonald's. There are two tram lines which go to the Essen Haptbanhoff, so you don't have to wait long. There is free WiFi in the hotel. I would recommend this hotel.
