Good budget optionWe were looking for a budget option near Coogee beach and this was half the price of the hotels near the sea front. Hotel is 20 mins walk to beach and 5 mins to the light rail to take you into town and a short walk from the local shops and restaurants. Room was ok, hotel is ok, for the price we paid it was ok, nothing more.

Great location but noisy building. The excellent point about the Perouse Lodge is that there are friendly, helpful staff members upon arrival to greet you and show you around. This was most welcoming, and I appreciated their efforts. Many thanks to Romsel, Lena and Louis. The hotel is well situated near the hospital and light-rail in the centre of Randwick moreover, a 15-minute walk downhill to Coogee beach and a longer walk uphill. It is a noisy building with thin walls where one can hear everything: slamming doors, talking next door and TVs across the hall with poor soundproofing. I was supposed to be here 14 nights, but a change of plans meant it was two nights which I was thankful for. It was a bonus to have laundry whereby it costs: $6 for washer dryer using tokens, and there is also an ironing board and iron. Kitchen facilities are also available, which is helpful. I was in a small double room which had a small fridge, tea and coffee facilities, no safe, TV and air conditioning. The room had an unpleasant odour emanating from the shower drain; therefore, I asked for disinfectant and opened the window. Unfortunately, the bed was a cheap mattress which was springy and in an unfortunate design fault, there is a ledge above the sink in the bathroom so you will struggle when brushing your teeth! Another bad design fault is that the air-con has been placed directly above the bed and blasts air onto your face, which isn't ideal. The hotel was renovated approximately three years ago but is now showing signs of wear and tear and note there is only street parking which can be expensive. There is a lift for your heavy suitcases, and they offer a green, environmentally friendly rate where the rooms aren't cleaned daily. Make sure to use the GWB (Guests With Benefits discount of 10%). Block booking is more expensive, so break up the days into smaller amounts. Next time around, I would book the High Cross Park Lodge, which is an older building with fewer rooms and just had a refurb as compared to the Perouse Lodge has over 60 rooms.

Close to hospital and eateries. Tiny room.My husband and I stayed at Perouse lodge on the 19/11/20 in a room with a queen bed. We stayed here because it close proximity to Prince of Wales hospital. We found that there were also many eateries close by. We were fortunate to be able to check in early and get a carpark at the back of the hotel. I asked for a room with a queen bed on the ground floor because I wasn't sure if I could walk well after a procedure I was having. We were given room 102 near the lift. We were shocked at the tiny size of the room when we entered. You could walk around the bed ok. There was a slim desk and slim cupboard on one side and a TV on the wall. The worst was a huge step up to the bathroom. It was dangerous. I couldn't believe we were given a room with a huge step to the bathroom when I told them I wasn't sure how well I could walk. I nearly fell a couple of times. My husband also struggled because he has a bad knee. The bed appeared to be smaller than a queen. It had a pillow top type mattress however we still woke up aching in the morning after a poor sleep because it wasn't that comfortable. There was a basic shared kitchen on the ground floor. Something was off in the fridge so we didn't put our stuff in there. There was a small bar fridge in the room in the long slim cupboard. Unfortunately on the morning we were leaving we discovered the kitchen was unavailable before 8am so we weren't able to get plates and cutlery to have any breakfast. I thought this was very poor. We should've been able to swipe into the kitchen. The staff were friendly and the location was great. I emailed the staff about the issues. I was told the kitchen is shut till 8am because there is no staff then and things go missing. I still think it should be accessable to guests by the swipe card. They apologized for the uncomfortable bed and I was assured it was a queen. I was told had they known the room was too small and the step was a problem we could have changed to a larger room. I got the idea that would have been an extra cost. We were also offered a discount if we come back. We would come back if we had to go to the hospital again and give them a second chance.

ok but very noisyWould I stay here again probably not. Curtain full of dust. The noise from the street, other guests and the stairs bearable but intrusive. Why did I stay here? Close to the hospital. Uber Eats delivered to room so that was a bonus. TV and air conditioner worked well.
