Beautiful Old Colonial EstateWe only stayed here for 1 night. It is a gorgeous setting & the lodge room was lovely. The staff were friendly but for breakfast in particular not enough of them. We ended up getting our plates from the kitchen ourselves as sat going cold for too long, resulting in Luke warm bacon. We also had dinner her which was good. The overall price is expensive & standard not up to expectations.

Slow serviceLate afternoon visit. Ordered drinks and food. Drinks slow to come, then no service or 2nd drink offered by staff. After 50mins wait food not yet served so cancelled order. Slow and lack of service was experienced in the 1 hour 15min we were there. A disappointing experience and end to our day on the peninsula.

Excellent Food & Beverage ManagerOver the past 6 months my wife & I have only stayed at the resort once but have dined at both the winery & the resort on numerous occasions. The room was spacious but dated, with shower over bath. In our opinion the F&B manager Jurgens, is an excellent operator who holds the food & beverage operation at both venues together. He has limited staff numbers, the majority of whom have limited hospitality experience. He is constantly training staff in an endeavour to maintain an appropriate standard on a tight budget with limited resources. Staff are friendly and courteous and the food quality & presentation very good. Service at times maybe slow but if you take the above into consideration and focus on the outlook, acceptable.

Serious bad foodFab setting - not busy - sadly on a holiday weekend - went for drinks to watch the yacht racing only people in the bar- sadly Came back for dinner - I ordered crayfish salad entreee Crayfish was off- fizzed on my tongue Sent it back Head chef came out and said" Is there something wrong with my food"? Yes I said crayfish is off- Reply " Ive been serving this all day and no one else complained" I am chef by trade and its off and Im also a customer today. The waiter asked if I wanted to order something else - I asked if the snapper was fresh or frozen? Fresh he said. $40 per serving. Well I "sworded" int it - uncooked in the centre - gave up at that poin- Very disappointed that I had made the effort to be in a fab setting and expecting fab food- Come on Northland get your act together you want us to spend our money travelling and eating through the county to support your business - at least provide true fresh NZ produce and have staff that are not rude and clearly isn't a chef of any notability.

Stunning location but dated and grottyThe resort and the winery are both set in great locations, with stunning views, excellent food and awesome service. If you live locally I highly recommend you eat here. Unfortunately the accommodation is what lets this place down. It severely lacks some TLC. Its dated, pretty much none of the glasses, cutlery and crockery match and a number of items are broken or dont work. $1000 spent at Briscoes or KMart would easily resolve these issues, someone just needs to show some pride in the place and be bothered enough to want to address these obvious issues. We did try and take it up with the General Manager but on each occasion we were informed that person was busy or in a meeting and would call us back. Were day 5 and still waiting for the call. Sums it up really.
