Katie at desk awesome. The rest....First off. Katie at the front desk is by far the best desk person Ive ever met. Friendly happy go lucky and wants to serve. If it wasnt for her this review would be way worse. Got to our room. No remote for tv. Call down, no problem. 45 minutes later still no remote. No worry. Heading to dinner. Go to bathroom to clean up there are black pubic and look like mustache hairs all over the sink. By the shampoo etc long curly black hairs which neither of us have. Go down to front desk. They blame the time for remote as short staff. I mention the bathroom and they said go to dinner and they would handle. Get back 90 minutes later and while bathroom clean they didnt rinse the cleaner in sink and left a pink substance in toilet as if to say see. We cleaned. But they left the sticky substance I had mentioned to front desk on light switch. Just not the cleaning priority I would expect in todays world. Shower the next day and drains are so plugged it overflows a 2 inch wall in seconds. Just a gross bathroom. Also. The carpet from the parking area to the lobby is absolutely gross. I can handle dirty. People walk on it every day. I get that but this...

Anniversary CelebrationWe decided to celebrate our anniversary in Peoria with dinner (Jim's Steakhouse) and a hotel stay at the Pere Marquette Marriott since I was golfing with our son the next day. I inquired about an upgrade since we are owners in the Westin Vacation properties and mentioned we were celebrating our anniversary. Upon arrival and check in we were wished a happy anniversary and given our keys. We were upgraded to a suite with a bottle of champagne on ice waiting for us in the room. The room was wonderful and very spacious!

Presidential Suite ReviewPros - The suite is very historic. The wood paneling in the living area is very unique and overall the suite is a good size. The history of the room is fascinating. Theres a plaque listing a very impressive list of prior guests. If your a political junkie like me, its pretty cool to stay in a room that both JFK and MLK have stayed in. Cons - Where to begin... for starters the main bedroom has a strong odor of cigarette smoke that is so pervasive that myself and my bride (it was our wedding weekend) were forced to sleep in the smaller bedroom. I informed the staff twice of this issue and they did make some attempt to fix it, but overall hinted that this was a known issue and there wasnt much they could do to fix it. Im sorry but for close to $500 a night this is not acceptable. The room should have been checked before arrival and if this is a known issue the room shouldnt be made available until the issue is resolved. It shows a real lack of standards on the part of the hotel. Beyond the stale cigarette oder that fills the master bedroom and bath, the room is just not properly kept up. There are visible stains on the armrests of the sofas and the bath tub had a large piece chipped off. Also if you have anything to throw a way, I hope you enjoy walking long distances because hilariously there are only two trash bins in a suite that hosts 2.5 baths and a kitchenette. Its beyond me how you can have two bathrooms with zero trash receptacles. It again just goes to show the complete lack of care and service. On another note, every closet in the suite is filled with standalone fans so Im going to go out on a limb and suggest that its probably not very comfortable in summer. COVID safety - its 2020 so Id be remiss if I didnt mention this. Marriotts commitment to clean sounds wonderful. Regrettably, words on a website are completely useless if your staff on the ground level doesnt follow through. If you are COVID conscious do not stay at this hotel. Guests do not comply with face mask requirements and from what I saw, hotel staff does not enforce these standards. Ill sum it up by saying I more than once saw maskless guests talking to mask-less employees (masks around their chins) immediately in front of a sign stating masks are required. All in all a disappointing stay in a room that was probably once great but is now rundown. While I appreciate willingness to assist by one staff member, the service fell short of expectations. If you have a high value room in your hotel, give a little extra push in your service standards. Check the room before guest arrival, dont sell rooms that arent up to standard, and most importantly dont let a guest leave disappointed with a 1000 charge for a two night stay that was not even comfortable. If you value a clean and comfortable room, do yourself a favor and and stay elsewhere.

Beautiful, classy hotel... interesting place to stay during the pandemic.I was on a road trip over a long weekend in October 2020 and had the opportunity to spend a Sunday night at this hotel. It was interesting because my reservation was actually for the Courtyard next door, but the Courtyard was closed and all reservations ended up transferring over to this hotel. (Both properties are owned by Marriott.) While I was curious as to what the Courtyard was like, I was quite impressed by the Pere Marquette. My check-in process on Sunday afternoon went fairly smoothly. The staff member checking me in was very friendly and helpful. My room (#821) was clean, comfortable, and very nice overall. Unfortunately due to the pandemic, a lot of the hotel amenities (restaurant, bar, indoor pool, etc.) were not available... so I couldn't experience any of those things. The parking situation was a bit more complicated than it could have been. When I arrived, I parked on one of the side streets nearby... but I guess what I could have done was park in front of the main entrance while I unloaded my car. The parking garage is behind the hotel, and I had to go back to the front desk to have my room key card activated to allow me to enter and exit the parking garage. Not a huge deal but it could have been a bit simpler. The only thing I was disappointed in was the fact that the web browser on the business center computer was Internet Explorer. I attempted to use the computer for some basic web surfing and whatnot. However, for some of the websites I use, Internet Explorer is not compatible... and a different browser like Google Chrome was not available. That was a bit frustrating. One thing that was interesting was how quiet this hotel was. It was almost eerie... a Sunday evening during a pandemic. Probably very few business travelers. I would have loved to have been here during a non-pandemic time and seen this place bustling with people and business... especially in, say, the restaurant/bar. All in all, I liked this hotel and would definitely not mind staying here again (or maybe the Courtyard) in the future whenever I have the opportunity to visit Peoria again.

If you value functioning rooms look elsewhere.I spent a single night at the Peoria Marriott on my way back home to Baltimore from a business meeting. This was during COVID so I cant speak on the amenities which may be fantastic, but by experience was terrible. The room had a clicking HVAC issue that appeared around 10 PM which engineering came and fixed. The issue reappeared at 4AM waking me up. The solutions the front desk offered were to either wait until 7 for engineering to come fix it, or pack up, check out of my current room, and move to a new room. When I asked if I could just leave my stuff in the current room and grab it in the morning, he accused me of trying to get two hotel rooms for the price of one. If you value a good night's sleep and competent polite customer service I would recommend you look elsewhere.
