Very pleased! I'd stay again.I rented the Marla I apartment for almost a week and found it to be a good choice. It's pretty much a studio with tons of closet and shelf space, an equipped kitchen, and a clean bathroom with a shower. The apartments are located a few blocks from the Pension, but it wasn't a problem. The apartment is located directly on a little side street that came to life the first two mornings before 5:30 am and did wake me, but that didn't continue and the street noise was minimal for the rest of my stay. Breakfast was served in the main building and was outstanding! There was a very large variety of food from which to choose. Cereals, yogurt, fruit, some vegetables, meats, cheeses too numerous to detail, and hard-boiled eggs. As well, there were countless options for spreading on the wonderful fresh bread choices. If desired, a pot of coffee was placed at our table in the lovely dining area. Great care was taken to make sure the buffet always looked full and appealing. The Pension is in a really good location as it is just a few minutes walk to the Domplatz and city tram services. It is also easy to walk around much of Erfurt from this location. The check-in and out process was quick and easy. I really enjoyed my stay and wouldn't even look for something else if I ever came back to Erfurt. The value for the money and the service were both excellent.

Lower your expectationsIf you are looking for a quiet holiday and you don't want to take the risk that: 1) on your arrival day, after 8 hours travelling, you are told that the apartment you chose has been changed by the owner without letting you know; 2) on your arrival day the responsible person is not present and you have to fetch the key of the apartment yourself, at the house of the chambermaid; 3) after that you have to search for the apartment in a city you don't know and without internet and a map (since you only printed the map to the apartment you booked), whereas the apartment can't be recognised by a plate for example; 4) the person responsible for the apartments can only be reached by phone à 0,23 a minute (foreign tariff) and she can't reach you (whereas all other persons can reach you, which makes me think it is a problem with her provider); 5) you don't have wifi in your apartment and you won't find it in cafés and restaurants either; 6) you find a trashbag on your door which is not yours with a note from the neighbours saying it is shameless putting the trash in front of their door and reffering you to the laws of the city; 7) costs à 50,- are be charged since you accidentilly let the key in the inner side of the door so the door could not be opened anymore, please do yourself a big favour and go to a hotel. There is a reason why you pay more in a hotel and it is called service. Don't expect to find the western standards in Eastern Germany yet. Especially with respect to internet and flexibility of the people. But do expect to pay (almost always) the western prices. But if your only concern is the price, than you might find a reasonable place here. Reasonable since it is still not very cheap. The apartment is clean and was near the city, which is a nice city to go to.

Very pleasantly surprised!First of all, I think this property has been ill served by tripadvisor and quite unfairly reviewed. The room we had looked like it was in a refurbished block as it was clean, modern and well presented, with big tv (even though we never used it!). No little extras like soaps, shower gels, shampoos etc. but frankly, if you bring your own this isn't a problem. If you're a tea drinker, make sure you bring your own kettle though! There is also no fridge in the rooms so we took the risk of leaving our food on the window sill. Unfortunately our cheese was either stolen or swept up by an over zealous street sweeper! The bed was comfortable and the shower worked very well. Given the prices and availability in Erfurt I'd say this place was good overall value and much better than many reviews in the past have suggested. I can't rate it "Excellent" because I expect a little more for that (mainly more facilities, breakfast included in the rate, which still wasn't exactly "cheap"). There is however free wifi (NOT in the rooms) in the breakfast area, so I was able to work here quite comfortably. The staff are polite as well. Breakfast was rather average, considering we had to pay extra for it, and I was underwhelmed by the choice available and the quality wasn't amazing. This is probably the other reason I can't rate this place "Excellent". I would have hoped for breakfast to be included in the price if I'm honest. One key point: if you arrive late (possibly even late afternoon) call the hotel! It is often left unmanned, and had we not called and got their instructions on how to enter (you need a code for a keypad before you get your entrance key) then we would not have been able to get in at all!) Overall though, very happy. And perfect location by the cathedral!

Worst stay in a hotel ever - unfortunatelyI was really disappointed about this hotel. When we arrived we had a very friendly call with the staff, who explained what to do and where to go. So there is nothing bad to say about the staff. But the room was quite horrible. The tiles in the shower were full of black mould. The wallpaper switched off in a corner of the sleeping area and it looked very dirty behind the sofa. Nonetheless I would have stayed there but the slatted Frage of the bed was broken and there were dirty dishes for breakfast and mould at the sausages they served. I was very suprised about all that things because many people recommended the hotel and so I expected everything to be clean and allright, but unfortunately nothing was.
