Second visit in 2 yearsMy partner and I wrote a previous review titled " hidden jewel of Crete" we still stand by this and again we really enjoyed our holiday, right until the moment we left and that's when things changed. We had our own shuttle taxi collecting us at 10pm. We had to be out of the room by 12pm so it had been a long day. We confirmed our collection the night before and so when a taxi turned up for us at 10pm we assumed it was the 1 we had already paid for. So we arrive at the airport and we thank the driver when he suddenly asks us for a payment!! I got mad quite quickly and pulled out the booking confirmation, time and receipt. I asked the driver who booked him and he said it was Nicholas the hotel owner. We never asked Nikolas to call us a taxi but he did mutter something to us saying " u have taxi at 10pm?" To which we nodded. Anyway the poor taxi driver is going mad as I'm refusing to pay for a service we had already paid for. So the driver calls Nikolas and he said we asked him to call 1 and we had to pay!. He gives the phone to his English speaking son who shouts at me saying I have to pay. The really annoying thing is that they knew we had gotten mixed up as our shuttle bus/ taxi would have called out our names at the hotel and they would have been well aware that they booked us a taxi for no reason but they still tried to make it our mistake with no apology. The good natured taxi driver even knew it wasnt our fault and shrugged and drove off without payment. Please be aware when u stay that you may think they understand what your saying but they obviously dont. Angela and Nikolas are lovely people but their English is not good. Just wanted to let others know so the mistake can be avoided as we could have been arrested at the airport if the driver wasnt so understanding. That said , it's still a very beautiful place to stay and I would recommend it. You will need to hire a moped, quad or car as it's a fairly long hot walk down to the beach. They are much better beaches in the area but without transport u wont know cos the area is spread out and much too far to walk to other beaches. Also dont pay for a quad safari its 35 a day for a 200cc quad and u can go off reading on ur own. We went flying along every single off road track we could find......you really get to discover the area properly and see all the areas that most dont see. We are 40 and 47 and we were taken back to our twenties again!!

Best nights outWe ate here twice having chanced on it after a long walk. Nicos and Angela are so welcoming and friendly. They work hard to create a fantastic, authentic Greek meal. The first night was barbecue night - 14 for a meal with Greek salad, chips, homemade tzatziki, and the best homemade pita bread ever. The wine is made by Nikos and he also pours very generous quantities of homegrown Raki ( very smooth - not the usual firewater offered to tourists) The second time we had freshly caught fish cooked to perfection. To round off the evening, he insisted on driving us home both nights as he said it was too far to work. We will certainly consider going back to stay there in the apartments which he showed us - right by the pool and overlooking the sea. Perfect.

Relaxed friends holidayStayed here with 3 other friends for a relaxing and budget holiday. The hosts were lovely, the rooms were clean and the view was amazing. 10 minute walk to two beaches with a wealth of bars and restaurant. If you want to go any further I would recommend hiring a car. The only negative was that it's not a great area on the Island for snorkelling but apart from that I would definitely recommend and we all agreed that we would re-visit. A special thanks to Penny (the owner) as I left my AirPods in the room upon departure and she was able to recover them and send them back to me - very much appreciated.

BeautifulThis place is just lovely, from our room with a view of the bay, the beautiful pool, the owners Nicos and Angela and Anastasia who served breakfast and cleaned the rooms. The rooms are large and immaculate and the bed was a king size with a memory foam mattress which meant we had an excellent nights sleep. There is a fridge, kettle and double electric hob and toaster (not that we did any cooking with all the wonderful restaurants in the resort). The bathroom is large with a shower over the bath, though typically Greek style where you have to hold the shower attachment over your head, but always hot water and powerful. There is a safe and air-con which is paid for separately but it's not expensive. Breakfast, although the same everyday, was really good value; eggs, bacon and fresh tomatoes, Greek yogurt with honey and cinnamon(delicious), tea or coffee, orange juice and plenty of toast and jam. The location is great, halfway up the hill overlooking the bay and in between the 2 beaches, though it is not so good if you have mobility issues as it is a good uphill walk getting back to the apartments. Nicos and Angelina have the quiet bar open till 10.30, where Nicos will happily ply you with Raki, though you also get plenty of it for free after meals in all the restaurants.Watch out for his sisters home-made wine though...it's really strong! We went to Agia Pelagia 2 years ago, we loved it but stayed in pretty awful accommodation previously, so we were amazed at this wonderful place and hope to be back next September. Thank you for making our holiday just perfect. XX
