Penmorvah manor hotel is a grand, rather tired, old-fashioned lady.

All things considered a four star experience. However, upon arrival one of the Manors so called friendly spaniels went for our sweet little Maltese dog, who is as placid as can be. NOT a good start. We were allocated a large, but very dark bedroom, with a tiny TV. The bathroom is in dire need of updating and upgrading. The shower simply comes from bath taps and hooked to the wall over an avocado bath with nylon shower curtain. This was not what we expected for £170 per night. The comfortable lounge area has a stately home feel to it as does the dining room. Dogs are allowed in all areas of the hotel, in the dining room. The hotel does not want them left alone in the bedrooms. There is a lovely outdoor seating area with beautiful view across the Channel and the hotel is set in large grounds. Limited Menu for evening meal, but it changes every day and very tasty. Hotel staff were extremely efficient and friendly.

Real potential but sadly lacking and in need of updating and improving facilities.

We stayed for several nights and ate dinner every night. The good points are position of hotel, grounds, garden and sea view. The outside terrace was great. Breakfast was very good but buffet had little choice. Lounge and reception also positive..but.... dining room is too dark and needs new carpet and painting as it is something out of the 1970s. Please get rid of the terrible art on the walls! The corridor to our room was grubby and in need of painting, no lights to switch on. Our room was classed as superior.. what? No way is it a superior room and not worth £170 per night. Dreadfully stained carpet, very dark room, outdated furniture, small tv, and bathroom in need of immediate updating to 2020! Older guests are unable to use shower as can't get in and out of the old fashioned bath safely. A shower these days is not a hose stuck on the wall from mixer taps! Tea and coffee provided but no biscuits. The menu changed daily but pork belly repeated in the space of 3 days! Food was very good quality and well cooked but every course took far too long to get out of the kitchen;usual wait was 30-40 minutes!! Staff were fabulous and we felt for them having to take the flak for the long waits and errors in orders. Breakfast highlight was the porridge which I had each day it was so good. Cooked breakfast was very good but had to wait for toast for 10 minutes by which time my eggs were not so hot. This hotel has the potential to be 4 and just amazing but needs injection of money quickly to update it. Popular with dog couples but I doubt any would return. I hope the owners will act on this so we are able to return in the future. As it stands, won't return until updated.

    Disappointed

My boyfriend and I booked 2 nights at this Manor House and unfortunately it was ruined by the attitude of the owners in regards to the COVID measures and guidelines. Their interpretation and knowledge was inaccurate / incomplete in relation to the governments guidelines for Mask Wearing Exemptions. We are both exempt and as per the government guidelines (at time of drafting this) we do not have to prove or show medical information or wear a badge etc. It is our choice should we want to (which we do not - we do not wish to walk around with badges displaying we are exempt or do we need to). Then Owner told us to wear a mask as it was mandatory and I advised we were exempt and he proceeded to ask for evidence. Despite informing him of the accurate complete guidance, him and his wife and his manager all challenged my partner the following day for others to hear and witness. My partner reiterated the guide and suggested they go check out for themselves but instead he was subjected to their personal view of the matter! They were even told that the guidelines also state they shouldnt keep asking us about it! The whole time I was there I suffered with anxiety and dreaded leaving room to go anywhere in the venue due to the worry of challenge and a sense of not feeling welcome. Ruined our whole experience and we were glad to leave. Very expensive two days for a disappointing stay. Shame.

    Wedding Oct 2020

We chose Penmorvah Manor for our wedding as we love the style of the hotel along with the size and location. The setting for this hotel was brilliant and made the day feel like was had the hotel to ourselves. Due to all the changes in the COVID-19 restrictions Penmorvah were more than helpful accommodate and explain the restrictions. Due to originally getting married in May, we had to postpone this and Penmorvah helped to provide alternative dates quickly so we could match this with our other suppliers. On the day the staff were wonderful and the food was amazing! From start to finish it was everything that was could of asked for. I would Recommend Penmorvah for anyone looking to get married in Cornwall.

    Lovely hotel, friendly staff

We booked very last-minute but Penmorvah Manor was a real find. The hotel is old and full of character, the food was lovely and we enjoyed a G&T by the fire with the owners' friendly spaniels keeping us company. We didn't stay long, but found it a great base to explore nearby Falmouth and would definitely come back if in the area.
