  Fui por negocios pero realmente disfrute muchisimo mi estadia y debo decir que la causa fue este excelente hotel, maravillosas vistas, apartamentos muy comodos, servicio de primera y muy calido. La comida es de excelente calidad. Sin lugar a dudas volveré pero no para trabajar.

  Vacaciones de Invierno en Whitsunday

  Amplio y lujoso departamento. Cómodo y con una vista ESPECTACULAR de la Marina Abell Point. Sandy fue una gran ayuda para agendar nuestras excursiones a Whitsunday islands. Nuestra estadía fue un agrado, porsupuesto la recomendaríamos.

  Wonderful place to stay

  We stayed here from 29 December to 5 January and as our booking had been accidentally cancelled, we were given a three-bedroom apartment instead of the two-bedroom apartment for the price of the two-bedroom unit. What a stunning place. Apartment was spacious and the view from the balcony was lovely with the marina and the water basically on our doorstep (or balcony step). We saw fish, turtles, a baby stingray and once my son and his girlfriend saw a lemon shark. Air con was a godsend and it was quite humid and rainy but we had an absolute ball here and the management were nice too. A bit of a trek into town if you dont have a car but 13 cabs came to the rescue a time or two when some of us did not feel like walking. Highly recommend staying here. It was away from the noise and the apartments are well insulated anyway and security was great. Saw the fireworks from town on New Years Eve from the balcony too as an added treat. Also you must try The Rainbow Cafe which is a short walk away for breakfast or brunch. They are open until two and we had great breakfasts there most days of our stay. They also make a mean strawberry and mango daiquiri.

  Disappointment

  We have been going to Peninsula Resort (rated 5 star), Airlie Beach, for over ten years and have stayed in some of the apartments more than once. Unfortunately, we have witnessed the steady decline in general maintenance upkeep and cleanliness of the apartments over that period of time. On our last 7 day visit we stayed in Apartment 34, an apartment we had previously occupied about six years ago. We noted on accessing the apartment the blind that had partially run off the rack was reminiscent of the last time we stayed in that particular accommodation. That time I re-hung the blind and reported the matter as a maintenance job to the then husband and wife managers and suggested all that was needed was a device fixed the the curtain runner to stop the blind from falling off the track. This was obviously never done. On our last visit Christmas 2020 we reported that particular blind had partially run off the track and was hanging and could not be used and another in the main bedroom was damaged and could not be operated. It took two days before the blind was re-hung and still no device was fitted to stop the blind from falling off again and nothing was done to the blind in the main bedroom. Obviously we did not touch the blinds during our stay. There were other matters we reported to the current husband and wife managers and received the response that the owner who lived interstate could not come to do maintenance due to Covid 19 travel restrictions. These matters included holed and frayed cushion covers, split ice block containers, stained and damaged curtains, tiled floors that have not been washed or scrubbed for many months, one cushion in particular had what appeared to be dried blood stain and the coffee machine, electric jug and cold water from refrigerator were unusable due to suspect hygiene. Prior to our departure we went to use the food disposal unit in the kitchen sink only to find the drain was blocked and water and sludge could not escape and just built-up dirty water in the sink. The most disappointing thing about management / owner is that they knew about the damaged curtains and cushions and had tried to hide the problem by reversing or turning cushions upside down. We cleaned one floor tile with warm soapy water to make it obvious to management just how dirty the floor is. Accommodation costs over the years we have stayed at the Peninsular would be in excess of $25000.00 and I can assure management that we will not be staying there again

  My husband, adult daughter and I spent last week at the Peninsula, in apartment 34. The view from the balcony was beautiful (as I believe is the same for most apartments). Overlooking the Marina, we enjoyed watching the sea life every night, even fireworks from a wedding. A friendly Cockatoo joined our happy hour, abundance of fish, manta rays and turtles. The apartment was very spacious and fully equipped. Washer/dryer, fridge/freezer with built in ice maker and water dispenser. A few sachets of coffee, tea and sugar provided, dishwasher powder, washing powder etc, more can be purchased from reception or bring your own. The beds were comfortable, if you like a firm mattress. As posted in a previous review, we did experience a few issues during our stay. The curtains in both bedrooms are still coming off the runners. There is a stain/wear in the shower tiles in ensuite which looks dirty. On arrival, there was a dead spider In ensuite toilet and moths, alive and dead, everywhere. The main bedroom TV never worked our whole stay and it was reported to management twice. The internet was not great until we moved the modem into the lounge which seemed to fix the problem. Cushions in lounge are ripped and lounge suite needs a good clean. There are also a number of stains on bedroom carpet. The pool is quite small and quite cold, which is a shame because you cannot swim at the beach due to stingers. The location is ok, an easy 20-30 min walk along boardwalk into Airlie township or an $8 taxi ride. No shops in area, a cafe/restaurant along boardwalk within 10 mins walk which are lovely, Recommend Garden Cafe and Sorrento restaurant, marina views, reasonable prices and good food. Across the road from Peninsula is Rainbow cafe upstairs open for breakfast/lunch. We took day tours which left from the marina which we could walk to or be picked up for. All in all we had a very enjoyable stay, just a few things need attention to maintain the apartment and give value for the price charged to stay here.
