  The setting of the lodge is magical and its beautifully presented ; but what really makes it is the delightful couple of Clair and Bill the hosts who are very welcoming and nothing is too much trouble. Should you opt for the food its is exquisite ! Richard and Vivienne

  HIGHLY RECOMMENDED FOR A WONDERFULL GET AWAY

  We stayed there recently over New Year. What a wonderful experience. Bill and Claire are absolutely outstanding hosts catering for your every need and Claire's meals are to die for and could grace any top class restaurant in the world. The whole lodge is beautifully maintained and the settings are stupendous from the rolling hills behind to the sunsets over the Bay. Lots to do if you are that way inclined or you can sit back, chill and just enjoy

  Paradise

  This is a beautiful place to just relax and take in the beautiful surroundings. The lodge is stunning and the price includes an amazing breakfast. The beach is mainly pebbles, but one can walk up into the hills or kayak out in the bay or just relax at the lovely lodge. Bill and Claire Hurst are the ultimate hosts, making sure that your every need is catered for. They have plenty of local knowledge that they are more than willing to share. Highly recommended

  Glorious place

  We have just spent the most wonderful six days at Pawhaoa Bay Lodge. The location is idyllic and the tranquility is all encompassing. Our hosts Claire and Bill couldn't possibly have looked after us any better and Claire is a superb chef. They were so helpful with ideas for places to visit too. We will really miss watching the fantastic sunsets and the complete relaxation. The night skies are also something to behold. We arrived as guests and left as friends.

  Absolutely Wonderful

  We very quickly fell in love with the Pawhaoa Bay Lodge. The setting is absolutely gorgeous. Our hosts Bill and Claire Hurst were charming. We stayed for dinner both nights we were at the Lodge, as we didn't want to make the drive at night to the closest restaurant. Great choice as Claire is an excellent chef and provided us with a gourmet meal both nights. We kayaked the bay at sunrise and returned for a superb home cooked to order breakfast. The location is a little remote, but that makes for some of the charm of the place. Short drive to the Waitangi Treaty Grounds and boat tours of the Bay of Islands. Rooms are large, clean, comfortable and well appointed. One of the highlights of our trip to New Zealand.
