Not what I expected it would be.

Last Friday, October 23 of 2015. I went to Kanchanaburi with my church for a freedom camp. I didn't know what kind of hotel would it be, I just know that I would be staying there for 3 days 2 night. I got there in about an 6 hours from Bangkok, the first impression of me when I saw the place was just normal. The view was beautiful, but the place was old, really old. I got into my room, it had a smell of old wood, or something like that, the bathroom floor was mostly cracked up, and the water leaked and the bed wasn't as good as I liked. At the morning I woke up, my neck was sour, and my back wasn't feeling right. I wouldn't count this as a funny thing, but when I was there, it was funny. I went to my friends room, and was about to prank other people, but my friend forgot to get the keys, which they only gave us 1 key, so the door closed, and wasn't able to get it. We had bare feet, and couldn't call the lobby cause of the very old telephone they had. We had to run to the elevator, sit the elevator down to first floor and go to lobby to ask for help. So be careful! Get your keys before you go outside of the room. What I really love about the place is the nature, in Bangkok, there's is not many trees, but when I was there, I walked around the whole entire resort/hotel, and felt like in heaven, it was beautiful, my friends and I went over the lake, the water was pretty shallow in the morning but when it gets later, the water starts to get stronger and stronger, it was a very great experience. Pavilion hotel have 2 swimming pools, and the pool made the whole trip exiting, cause the pool was so big and we had so much fun in there and outside of the pool. I would not recommend you to stay in this hotel more than 2 nights but if you can, just try, the view and the nature is something you really should experience.

    Alright resort in Kanchanaburi.

The view of the mountain side and the river next to the big pool is AMAZING. The other things was alright. Rooms are clean. Staffs are friendly. Food for the first few days just tasteless but the rest of the trip are alright. For Thai food please make sure the cooks put more flavor to your meals. Snacks, Ice creams and other drinks are available at the lobby, a bit pricey but you won't find any shop around the place so no worry if you've been prepared those before you check in. Pools are a bit dirty with leaves falls in and I bet they didn't clean up for a big while. Found a snake and geckos while doing an activities outside with a bunch of kids but they're just starring at us. What I like most is the shower lol the water pressure is VERY GOOD. I only used the bathtub once though.

    Lovely place by the river

Our stay at Pavilion Rim Kwai was wonderful. The big swimming pool was being cleaned so we got to swim in the river adjacent to the resort. Food isn't great but manageable. There was a movie shooting going on and the support staff were drinking and making a lot of noise early in the morning.

    Laid-back resort-hotel with a view of a lazy river.

If you like to forget about the hustle and bustle of the surrounding world you will like this place. It is not perfect, I mean must have seen better times, but for me that added to its charm. Our room, with quite outdated bathroom, was clean and comfortable and had a large balcony overlooking a huge swimming pool. This hotel is surrounded by the lush park-like grounds, not perfectly manicured, but again for me that added to the charm. I loved the view of the slow-flowing Kwai river in the background. Food was ok, staff very friendly.

    Slow and chill

This place is slow and chilled out, with a nice view of the river. It's an old resort, so it's not all shiny. But the staff are polite and rooms are basic. The best part is how quiet it gets at night. Just keep in mind there are Thai groups that come on the weekend, so if you're looking for a peaceful time on the weekend, make sure that you check with them about other groups. Being old means that prices are a little low. We got a good deal when directly talking to the front desk.
