Beautiful resort ruined by poor managementWe stayed in an apartment on the Patara Prince site, and fortunately not in the hotel. Our experience of the facilities was not good. The site is the most beautiful in the whole area, in fact unique, so it is a shame that it is so badly managed. We have come to associate Turkey with excellent service but this resort has killed that. The staff are surly and the food unimaginative and bland. There are too many rules of the "no food round the pool" type. No pool service. The sunbeds are free but so uncomfortable that it necessitates having a mattress at 10 Tl per day. Why not just put the pads out each day and charge for the beds? And you can only get a mattress if you can find the member of staff to bring you one. It seems under staffed and the staff unhappy. The waiters prioritise the Turkish guests because they mostly speak no English so you can wait hours for any attention. My husband went to get some food on his own one night because I was ill. One restaurant was closed and the other one turned him away for not booking, so no food for him that night. The only decent waiter is Ahmet who at least tries. The others are a surly bunch. I feel the management needs a wake up call and many of the hotel guests were deserting in droves to spend their evenings in Kalkan.

8th Visit go Patara Prince Hotel, KalkanWe usually love staying here. The views are panoramic, our chosen rooms are comfortable and clean, and the young staff, though badly trained, are friendly and eager to please. Although the hotel is a bit tired we are usually so relaxed and comfortable it is of little consequence. This year we were visiting for 9 nights with our 3 adult children and had persuaded my brother and his wife to join us from Australia and were dismayed and embarrassed that cleaning was an issue. Our room and my brothers room were missed on 2 occasions and when the cleaning was done (apart from 1 day) it was obviously done in a rush and below acceptable standards. There was long term dust under the cupboard below the tv. Glasses and toothbrush mugs were not cleaned and there was dust on surfaces. We had one very windy night when debris and leaves were blown about on the balcony and into the room. The debris was still there after the cleaner had been in. I think the cleaning system may have changed as I saw loads of them being bused in one day late in the morning. (Previous years the cleaners were on-site from early morning), however the job is not done well enough and will sadly make us reconsider whether we stay again. If I feel a place is not clean it is impossible to feel comfortable. I believe the owner was on site during our stay and seemed preoccupied with small things to please his party rather than the very important issue of cleaning. Staff appeared very nervous around him.

Such a Shame! My friend and I stayed in a private apartment within the grounds of the Patara Prince Hotel. The deal is that we get to use the facilities of the hotel. Our apartment was very nice and had a fantastic view of the sea and Kalkan. The grounds are lovely and the pool areas are very nice. Beautiful views across to Kalkan and many decking areas for sunbathing. However, the attitude of the hotel staff (in particular the front of desk and some of the waiters was shocking). Unfriendly/unwelcoming and rude. We were told in a very abrupt manner that we had to pay for cushions for the sunbed (in cash only), There is a bar by the pool but was not open as most of the restaurants on site. Not sure what is going on there but it appears to be run down and depleted of staff/service/care. We decided to have dinner on our first night and it was so bad it was laughable. It was so dark that we had to use our torches on our phones to read the menu, when the food came we couldn't see what we were eating but it didn't matter as it didn't taste of anything! so bland. waiter was miserable and we felt unwelcome and quite frankly couldn't wait to leave. The next day we ordered a club sandwich by the pool. OMG it was inedible. There were two large pieces of indescribable matter which was dark brown/red. Looked like it was from a tin by the shape of it (we offered it to the local cat but even she turned her nose up at it), a piece of, what looked like fried egg and a slice of cheese. Absolutely disgusting. It was the last time we ate there. Such a shame as the hotel could be lovely but clearly needs a massive injection of cash to update it. The staff need training in customer service, they could learn a lot from the restaurants in Kalkan which are lovely, great customer service and food!
