Sunday brunchLovely location, terribile service. When I booked I indicate indicated that I am coeliac. This was not considered in the least. It was clear I was just being a nuisance to them. And in general food just mediocre. Cold and meaningless. What a parte of time and money.

Hotel restaurant - no dinner, bar or apologyBooked the restaurant for dinner on a Friday night a month in advance. Confirmed we would be there on numerous emails that were sent by the hotel. Even telephoned a few days before to confirm our booking. When we arrived on time, we were told that no dinner would be served and the bar was closed. The staff treated us with complete indifference, told us that we could only have some 'tapas', take it or leave it. Completely unprofessional.

You'll either love it or hate it.This is a hard review to write. From an aesthetic sense, this 'hotel' is charming. The staff are mostly super charming and friendly, although sadly very incompetent. The best way to describe this place is a dance club/bar/restaurant which just happens to have a hotel attached to it. Or rather a 5 room bed and breakfast house, although breakfast is not included. The young, hipster/scenester vibe is strong here. If you are middle aged or not the party type ... know what you are getting yourself into. It's basically a living projection of a trendy instagram feed. We checked in at 3 p.m. after a long train ride from London. It's almost impossible to find the entrance as there are no markings. We called the hotel who directed us to an iron gate down an ally where we were buzzed in. It took 5 minutes for someone to come into the lobby. Apparently the front desk staff also work as waitresses at the restaurant and were busy plating food. We were told our room was not ready and we were told to wait at the bar where we would be given a welcome drink. We accepted. The bartender asked us if we would like some cookies while we waited. We accepted. 20 minutes later, they said our room was ready. Nobody had left the lobby to even know this. Soon we found out why. We were given a bill. One of the glasses of wine was free (one welcome drink for two people). The other was 14 euro and the cookies were around 8 euro. Owch! Welcome indeed. We got to the room which was interesting. The walls were covered in photo murals of floral scenes and the shabby red carpet and worn out blue furniture made the room feel cool and Bohemian in a Jimmi Hendrix kind of way. The bathroom was bright lime green with a shower stall, a tub and a small closet where the toilet was. This was so small it was hard to even sit down on the throne. Also, inexplicably there were no curtains or blinds on the windows except for a small valance, meaning anyone could see into the bathroom at any time. We ended up using sheets, towels or whatever we could find on the blank windows when showering. This hotel has quirky charm despite its worn out nature and probably came right out of a 1960s time warp. I doubt you will find many places like this that still exist in Paris. The service was non-existent. The male bartenders downstairs were aloof and clearly wanted us to leave. The front desk/waitress staff were inept to even run a credit card but super friendly and we enjoyed talking to them on their smoke breaks. The location is fantastic within walking distance of Montmartre center full of little bars and cafes. Montmartre itself we were warned to avoid because it was very touristy during the day and at night bars and cafes close very early as no tourists actually stay in Montmartre. But, though it was crowded during the day and empty at night we did find Montmartre one of our favorite areas in Paris. If you are a 20 year old couple with a trust fund, this is a great place to stay and drink the night away with your fellow instagrammers and Tick Tockers . If you are staying at a hotel for service and comfort, you may want to think twice about this place. You'll either love it ... or hate it. That's about the best advice I could give you.
