  You get what you pay for

  The lobby and MAIN hotel looks lovely. We stayed in the Dingshan Wing not as glamorous but as I said you get what you pay for $80aud I suggest you ask for an upgrade to main hotel if you are put into the wing Bed is comfortable room is clean Staff very helpful You have full use of gym which is in this wing Don't be fooled by pool view it is empty but it is going towards winter here do that may be why Bathroom clean although paint is peeling Breakfast in main hotel is OK by Chinese standards but nothing to write home about Thus hotel is also quite far out from the city centre but just hope into a taxi for about 25 yuan so not too bad Take a hotel card before you take a taxi as it us written in Chinese and makes it easier to get back when you show it to your driver

  Good Basic hotel with frustrating setup!

  Hotel rooms are ok, they are basically suite style with a kitchen. The heating/air con does not work well and internet access is reliable but slow. Frustrating setup is due to reception being away from the rooms so you have to go to reception then you go somewhere else to get the keys to your room - not good experience when you arrive late at night. Breakfast is good, mix is Chinese and western foods including an egg/omelette station.

  awful, bad service, bad location

  The service was soooooo bad. The key cannot open the door then I went to the reception. The man there kept saying: wait for a moment. The fridge was broken. The woman said all the fridge were broken and they would put our staff in the fridge at the cafe for us. We found out that they didn't do so after we came back!

  Shabby

  Needs sprucing up , in particular the bathrooms. Peeling paint, poor stream from shower head. Room was a smoking room so woke up feeling like Id smoke a packet of cigarettes each morning. Mattress was very hard but pillows and Doona were fab. Thanks to the Chinese men in the adjoining room who kept knocking on the connecting door at all hours of the night and freaking me out.

  Perfectly okay

  Staying for 5 weeks here, bit of a mix up with rooms originally but sorted now. We are in the Dingshan apartments, which is a separate building, in a suite. Big rooms, family size fridge, microwave, kettle. Heating can't be used until after 6pm but is good once on. The windows open which is a bonus! Everything is cream and beige which is easy on the eye and pleasant. I like the hard beds. Tea bags provided, no sugar, milk or coffee sachets. Wifi in rooms is slow but adequate. Only 1 English channel which is infonews. Breakfast is extensive and changes every day. I thought it was poor until I went to the Holiday Inn Express in Shanghai. Lunch and dinner, I'm often the only person in the room. The food I've had is nice, actually the steak was terrific, but many western dishes are unavailable or not what was expected. Reading these reviews apparently there's another restaurant! I would never have known. The staff are friendly and helpful but have so little English that it's hard. All the foyer signs and promotional boards are in Chinese, maybe there are other hidden treasures? No clue where the swimming pool is but was told that it's not usable, so maybe drained for the winter? Handy for the 21 bus which joins up to subway lines 2 and 4. Love having a tub in the bathroom, good towels. Staying here is fine.
