    Nice location in a quiet surrounding

    We actually wanted to find accomodation along the Mosel, but we only could find place in Bad Bertrich. The location seems to have many hotels, but most of them belong to the same owner. We booked at Park Hotel, but they gave us a room at the adjacent Classic Hotel. Probably better, because it seems more modern than the actual main building. The rooms are spacy. The bathroom was also large, but no tub, only shower. The towels were worn out, but clean. Breakfast was included. A minor point is that they would not serve us dinner. We were with 7 persons and we came quite late at 8:00 pm. They found our group too large. The weather was cold in October, but the room had good heating. The hotel is reasonably priced.

    Nice hotel in a perfect location but service could be much better

    The staff at the reception is not friendly but cool. At check-in we only got information about the parking of the car which is quite expensive 12 euro day unless you park the car outside the village ( Parking Ost) at 3 euro day then in walking distance 10 min min back to the hotel, information about breakfast was not given unless you asked for. Room was quite comfortable perhaps outdated but very clean. Breakfast was good an but rather standard buffet. Dinner was good and too much but we had to wait one hour before we got something. The bar closes at 10 pm and i asked for a brandy but was not available? Having a drink on the nice terrace in the aftenoon seemed not possible because of shortage of staff. The reception staff seems always so occupied and do not pay attention if you passes by the front desk. This is defenitely not a 4 stars hotel service.

    The WORST service ever!!!

    I was there as a tour guide with a group of American cyclists visiting the region. I have been working as a guide for 5 years for one of the leading American company in active travel: Backroads. I get to stay in many hotels, from the traditional 2 stars local b&b to 5 stars luxury hotels and eat in dozens of different restaurants (from local brasseries to 2 Michelin stars) all over Europe, 7 months/year. This is from far the worst service I have ever experienced! As I arrived, the receptionist didnt even bother to look at me. She said, staring at her computer and in German, that my colleague had already checked in. I asked where was my room, and she waved vaguely to the right, annoyed by my question and still in German even though she knew I didnt understand very well (I am from Belgium), and repeated that my colleague had already checked in. I finally managed to get her to tell me what room number I was in! Not only was it totally unprofessional, but it was totally rude! Later that day, we had asked if we could get some amuse-bouche for our clients to serve with their wine. We were told it was not possible, so we provided them ourselves. We ended up doing all the service ourselves (ordering drinks and serving them), since the waiter couldnt have cared less and was so unpleasant that we actually didnt want our clients to have to deal with him. We didnt dine with our clients that night but we heard from them the next day that food & service was "abyssal". And they were a pretty easy-going group... The staff would also not deliver luggage in the rooms, or pick them up the next day, so we ended up doing it ourselves too. I do not understand how a hotel can hire such unprofessional, unpleasant, clumsy and rude staff. I repeat myself: this is the worst I have ever experienced! Just dont go there, it is absolutely terrible and staff treats you like sh***.

    AN OVERNIGHT STAY

    On the recommendation of one of my wife's colleagues, we decided to spend the night at the Park Hotel in Bad Bertrich. The hotel looks quite imposing from the outside. We were greeted by a Receptionist who was obviously having a "bad hair day"! Totally unfriendly! Our room was across the street in what used to be another hotel which had obviously been taken over by the Park Hotel. The room was small and rather old fashioned with non-descript furnishing and NO AIR CONDITIONING!!! Considering the temperature during the day had been 37°C, the evening and night were quite unpleasant even though we slept with the window open which had to be closed during the early hours of the morning because of a massive thunderstorm. The hotel does not have parking facilities though quite close, there are pay parking facilities The saving grace was that the breakfast in the hotel was good.

    THERMALQUELLE OHNE WASSER / THERMAL SOURCE WITHOUT WATER

    Bad Bertrich ? Who the hell comes to Bad Bertrich, a tiny village between the hills, in the hinterland of the Mosel. Yet probably 20 hotels and guesthouses. Surprisingly. So there must be a big demand. In fact the whole Eifel & Mosel is very much in demand, specially weekend stays. It is a thermal source, and the village makes promotion as 'Gesundland' 'einzige Glaubersalzthermalquelle'. I get to the hotel, too early, and promptly I am asked to return at check-in take. Check-in time, welcome drink ? NO ! bar is closed, I get a coupon ! as well for the meals. the coupons are printed by the hotel and completely wrongly cut. I get to my room in the dependance building - probably better than the hotel itself - surprise ! NOTHING to drink, you would expect a nice bottle of Gerolsteiner Mild in a health spa environment, NOT HERE. The receptionists get overwhelemd if there are 2 clients at the recpetion, I saw how a lady was not able to write a receipt, she forgot to write the amount in numbers ! I asked here to change a 50 note, as she just received 200 in small notes, she went to another cash desk, where she could not change.... Clear most persons in this hotel cannot have a hotel education, they must be career changers or being paid very poorly; it is a 'leave me in peace' attitude, they don't bother. I have learned that this hotel must have uup to 100 rooms, well it surely did not look fully occupied. It is managed to - I guess - only provide 30 % of the capacity, so to ensure a steady flow of guests as well personnel.which looks like a good idea. The restaurant is a very nice place with view on the park. The food is fresh...from the freezer. Both meals I had, 1 salmon, the other chicken-curry, seems to be from the LIdl or similar. Of course the food is good, but I can make this at home as well, and for a Parkhotel is totally basic. Why not serving a 'vol-au-vent´? It is the story of this hotel, nothing is really bad, but all services are reduced to the minimum, (other example no reception late evening & night) and somewhere is missing everywhere.. In the end, the hotel put me in a Komfort room istead of a superior room !!! Without telling me, as I had ask a small change. You must know, what the ladies at the reception obviously do NOT know, ictures on their website and elsewhere are taken all from 1 room, the superior room, as wel for comfort as for economy. The superior room should be 25 m2 and have a sofa corner. The comfort has a writing table and is about 17 m2. Regretfully, the hotel describes the room with a double bed, but it has only 2 separate single beds. Another mistake. Too many little mistakes in this Parkhotel. I am not arguing about the parking space at 100 mtr and at 12 a day, you have this in other cities as well.Be prepared to have 20 notes or smaller ! Finally it was not possible to book any massage, as booked out, another example how the whole system works here on pre-éstimated capacity. This hotel gets a clientele of a lower standard, the ones who believe they get better and in the healing of the water from the well. Well they get wht they deserve, a good copy of a real hotel. 2,5 points
