How a charming stay turned out to be a real disappointment...

What should have become a relaxing 7d stay in a nice and charming castel, turned out ot be a real disappointment!!! I just did not manage to feel comfortable in this hotel. Based on the information on the hotel's website and brochure of our travel agent, we thought that we had booked a really charming and luxurious hotel. And although we did pay the price for a 4-star luxury stay, we did not get what we paid for!!! The garden is not a park at all! 6 seats by the swimming pool are not enough to cover a hotel population of 29 rooms! There was no golf and the building in which are room was located, was surrounded by a wooden construction (don't ask me why), so that the view was completely messed up and we couldn't even enjoy the sun on our own terrace. The rooms were not clean at all (hair and dust in the rails of cupboards), the shower bar was rust and broken, bathroom wall full of mould. 1 time they just forgot to clean the room, 2 times they forgot to put fresh towels and the worst is yet to come: one day, when we came back from a daytrip, the door of our room was NOT CLOSED, they just forgot to lock our door after the cleaning! Luckily for us, everything was still there, but imagine what would have happened if our bank and credit cards would have been stolen!!! This really beats it all! How un-respectfull is that! And the only answer we received when complaining in the hotel was 'I am really sorry!' You know, I am really sorry too!!! About this holiday and especially about this hotel! We really feel cheated!!! They will never see us again!

    I liked it

After booking a room then reading the Trip Advisor reviews i was a bit apprehensive.. However, i was pleasently suprised.. The room was huge, the bed comfy and the shower was great.. It is a little distance from the centre of Montpellior, however it made it even closer to Pont du Gard in Remoulins.. Pont du Gard is amazing and totally breath taking.. A complete cleansing experience... I loved it..

    Don't book here!

We expected this to be luxurious and in a rural setting. Instead, it is right off the highway and the first room that we were put in (and presumably all of the many rooms on that side of the hotel) had highway noises and views. We arrived at 6:30 p.m. on Sunday after a long drive to find that the reception had closed at 6 p.m. (nothing on the website about that) and we had to get our key from a security guard who spoke no English. We had requested a room with two twin beds, but been given a room with one double, and the room had just a hand shower in the tub that was not mounted on the wall. The bedside lights did not work. We went back to the security and found a second guard there who had a bit more English and a bit more initiative, and he moved us to another room. The restaurant, which is prominently featured on the website, is not open for dinner on Saturday or Sunday. So after we moved to the replacement room in the main house (much nicer), we drove into Montpellier for dinner. Of course, we had been counting on the hotel reception to provide us with a recommendation and that wasn't possible. We ended up getting a restaurant recommendation (and booking assistance) after we wandered into a hotel in the centre ville. It is also extremely confusing to get to and from the center of Montpellier from this hotel and (of course) there was nobody at the hotel to provide directions. On our way back, we were lost for an hour, till well after midnight. The photos of the poolside and restaurant are shot in a creative way, but it is not at all as it appears. All in all, what was supposed to be the luxurious relaxing country chateau night of our trip was frustrating and disappointing.

    An experince to be missed

Booked this hotel/residence for a 3 night stay to spend some time in Montpellier. My stay here was disappointing on several fronts. Firstly, the hotel is impossible to locate - it's badly sign posted and we ended up getting lost everytime we tried to find it coming back from Montpellier. We eventually could find it by looking for the unattractive tower of satellite dishes beside the hotel that glow red at night. This is definitely not a 4 star property - it would struggle to be a basic 3 star accommodation by Irish standards. The reception is basically a desk with a computer and usually no-one there. The place lacks atmosphere - you almost feel like the only guest there. We didn't bother trying out the restaurant. The pool is tiny and there are hardly any loungers around the pool. The rooms themselves have potential but are shabby - carpet was dirty, there was a used soap bar down the side of the radiator, the mini grill/oven didn't work and let's just say that the bed sheets/blankets were not crisp white clean. Whilst the room had a very spacious patio area, it was completely blocked in by a strange wooden structure like a big wooden blind all over the building. Would not recommend staying here as it's overpriced basic budget tourist accommodation with no charm or atmosphere.

    Very disappointed...

From the website we expected to be staying in a chateau , in attractive and comfortable surroundings. We didn't expect to be in a modern block of apartments ( hideously ugly building) beside a motorway with very little 'garden' to speak of . The pool is right next to the restaurant and was overlooked by a large group of businessmen on a conference. The receptionist was very unwelcoming and despite the fact that I speak French ( albeit slowly) managed to make me feel completely unintelligible. This isn't a hotel for a holiday - it's a conference centre. The hotel is very difficult to find ( being right next to 'spaghetti junction) and the hotel staff don't ( or wouldn't) provide a map of the immediate vicinity : hence each trip into Montpellier resulted in a nightmare trying to get back home. The apartment itself was fine although the wooden bars covering the whole building block out a lot of light so it was very gloomy. We expected something luxiourious in peaceful and attractive grounds: we got an standard apartment next to a motorway ( and we also got lost - lots!)
