Solid - but less spectacular than I was led to believeMy wife & I stayed here while on Headwater walking holiday - on half board (breakfast buffet & dinner included). And there are many excellent things about the hotel - most of which are directly attributed to the staff, who were exceptional. Particularly Juri in the dining area. The hotel is clean. Very clean. And the location near the railway station is quiet (electric rail) and convenient to getting out of town. The beds are comfortable, the linens clean, and the towels/robes/slippers more than satisfactory. Breakfast seemed to get a little picked over as the week progressed - but the egg station was available daily, although you may have to request eggs be fried up by your server. Dinner was from a limited selection that typically included a local dish, a fish dish, and a vegetarian dish as options for both first & second course. The selections offered are best described as 'cuisine' - there were a couple nights that we elected to eat in town or in the next town instead of the offered options, just because they didn't sound particularly appealing. The dining area, an in truth the entire hotel/spa, are obviously intended to be classy. What I assume is an excellent wine selection is offered (I don't drink wine), and dinner could easily be a dressy event - but - you cannot really get dressed for dinner, as there is no laundry service and no iron or steamer in the room to remove wrinkles from your garments after flying 1000s of kilometers. The pool and hot tub (bit of a misnomer there - it barely qualifies as a tepid tub) open at 0700 and close at 2000 - which sounds like you should be able to enjoy a day of walking or climbing - and then relax in a hot tub to ease your muscles. But dinner is at 1930 - so, no you really can't use the pool/hot tub after dinner to relax. Fortunately the rooms that have bath tubs (not all of them do) have excellent, deep tubs with plenty of hot water. I soaked in my room instead. Finally, and this too is minor - as with the schedule for food, and the schedule for the pool/hot tub - there exists a schedule on when you can enjoy your private balcony. That would end at 2200. Now, I know not many people are going to walk all day, and then be up late - but my wife is a bit of a night owl, and would prefer to sit on the balcony, enjoy her drink & a cigarette, and read her book late into the night, and that wasn't something she could do easily. Fortunately, both for late night light and for eating when the cuisine doesn't suit your mood, the kabob shop across the way is open until 2300.

Great LunchWe did a hike around Lago di Dobbiaco and stopped by this hotel for lunch. The restaurant is located in the front of the hotel with a view of the mountains. The menu had great choices and the staff spoke very good English. All five of us had a great meal. My wife had a great and gluten free potato soup. The staff were attentive and quite helpful when making our choices.

Spectacular views, superb food, great rooms and wellness centreWe returned here in Feb 2019 following a visit visit a few years earlier, when we were struck by how good it was. I'm glad to report that it was even better this time. This is a very charming and extremely well run hotel with great staff. Like the best places they've constantly reinvested in it and as a result it's immaculate and modern whilst being careful not to lose its Tyrolean charm or its authenticity. The best thing though is the food which we always remembered as good but this time was superb. The style is modern European and each evening if you're on half board there's a generous five course dinner followed by cheese. They also have some excellent wines and great Austrian and German beers on tap and bottled. The newly refurbished and very smart dining area looks out on a spectacular mountainscape. It makes for a memorable end to each day. You can see what the place looks like from its website so I won't repeat it here except to say that it's a fair representation and we absolutely loved our stay. It's also very well located for accessing the Alpine skiing stadium and cross country tracks and also for the railway station making it easy to get to by train, which is what we did from Innsbruck. The train service is excellent actually and integrated with Austrian (OBB) and German rail so you can easily book through from Munich for example. We used the OBB mobile app called "Scotty" which we would highly recommend. Some services don't show in the UK's TrainLine for some reason. We will definitely back.

Great staff, food, locationAs a travel agent I get to stay at lots of hotels around the world and compare them. I have to say Hotel Bellevue is at the top of my list. Amazingly friendly and attentive staff (remembering for example I like a carafe of water with dinner so it was always there; remembering how I like my coffee and eggs in the morning). Andreas is a found of knowledge about local hikes and things to see. The wellness centre is a treat with three different saunas, cold plunge pools / showers - even though the nudity for a modest Canadian was a bit of an eye-opener (perhaps not the right choice of words here). The food is absolutely to die for - if anything it is a bit much - but the quality is top notch and at par with anything I have had at great restaurants around the world. Never got to know the name of the Italian waiter but he is a hoot. Amazing choice of wines and liquors as well. If you do travel solo, ask for an upgraded single room - they are quite a bit bigger and cost little extra (from EUR15 per night) Come to think of it, I really cannot find any fault in this place. Some people might say the location is not great but I found being next to the train station (where some buses, including the Tre Cime shuttle) also stop) a treat. And the local bus station is only a ten minute walk away.

Excellent hotel, great food, comfortable rooms, great facilities and welcoming staffWe stayed here a week in Sept 19 as part of our walking trip package arranged in UK through Headwater holidays. From the moment of arrival to leaving we really couldnt find anything significant which we had problems with. The room was comfortable and well equipped with robes provided for heading to the pool and sauna, it had a balcony with a pleasant view facing towards town and though in evenings we used it during our stay was warm enough to sit out to have a beer or wine before heading to the pool. The room had a mini bar type fridge which we used for storage of our own drinks. The staff at the front desk were always helpful and the staff in the restaurant were most nearly always on hand to attend to our needs, each night and morning we were sat at same table for the week which was nice as we could chat to the other people who arrived with Headwater on same day and discuss our days walking and plans for the next. Breakfasts were the usual continental buffet with meats, cheeses and fruit etc. and fresh made omelettes or fried eggs were available, fresh coffee was served at the table. Evening meals were excellent quality and 5 courses, salad buffet, a soup or pasta course, a meat or fish dish, a pudding and then cheese at the buffet. Everything was well cooked and very well presented. Wines from the extensive cellars were not cheap, around 25 Euro for a standard bottle of for example the Venetian Merlot which I loved, but certainly not out of the question when spread over a couple of nights. For the day of my birthday I was presented with a medium sized chocolate cake at breakfast complete with a candle and a candlestick on our table too. That evening after returning from our walk we ate the cake and very nice it was too washed down with a glass of fizz wed chilled in the room fridge. The swimming pool was a decent enough size to swim lengths and the separate sauna and steam room were good to soothe a few aches after a days walking. Theres a drying room if you need your boots etc. drying after a day out which we made use of and overnight everything which had been sodden wet the previous afternoon was bone dry with exception of my boots.. Location of the hotel is excellent if youre starting walks, around 5 minutes walk to the rail station or 15 mins up the road into town to the bus station for local buses or the Drei Zinnen shuttle bus, you can pick up buses at the rail station but to be sure of a seat its best to start in town. We felt September was a great time overall to visit both the hotel and the area, the buses we took to various locations to start walks werent too busy and most places we walked werent too crowded with exception of the Three Peaks trails which were just too busy for our liking. Would love to stay here again sometime.
