And Relax...We arrived after a smooth transfer from Naples International via the ferry and then collected and delivered to the hotel. We welcomed by the exceptional friendly front of house staff and provided with FREE water . We were then taken on a tour of the site and shown the two operating bars, interior restaurant and the exterior terrace. We were half board and there was a decent range on offer for breakfast buffet, although only bacon , scrambled eggs or boiled eggs available for the hot options. The main meals were ordered at breakfast from a menu with Anti Paste buffet, three starters, three mains and a selection of ice cream, sorbet and other desserts. The waiting staff were mainly Italian and German speakers, however with the help of Google translate we managed to communicate. We used the thermal pool most days and found it to be very relaxing and when we realised that it turned into a spa with water jets we were delighted. The rooms are basic but have everything you need except a welcome tray. Whilst I understand the need for the hotel to protect its revenue streams I had to drink on average 6 litre of water per day as well as what ever else I had wine, coffees juice etc. This was expensive, we noted the fine for refuse disposal of bottled water not purchased in the hotel. The only complaint about the room was the shower , I am a funny shape and manoeuvring myself in a tight space was a challenge. The front of house staff were very helpful booked us a taxi to Sorgeto to experience the thermal sea and booked us a Capri tour. Ciro was a human dynamo behind the bar and looked after us! Nice hotel, probably better suited to Italian or German, but dont be put off, its worth a visit just to meet the staff.

Could do BetterThe transfers were fine. The hotel is some way out from anywhere, even Forio. It became clear that the hotel do shuttles but last pickup was 7pm. You are then stuck in the hotel unless you get taxis which are pricey - 15 Euros each way just to Forio..... our room was fine but the lower end of the hotel a number of guests told us were not acceptable and some had moved. The pool down there looked 25 years old ,the 'gym' area was really an embarrassment for the hotel. The dining experience was a little 'school dinners'. You selected your evening meal whilst at breakfast. Really dinner was one sitting: 8pm - 930pm. No seafood available at lunchtime unless you preorder the day before......on a Mediterranean island!!!! The evening meals were fine, the salad bar extensive. Few English people there, some may prefer that. Lots of Germans there, some may prefer that....

Good points and some negatives (I cannot really say bad)The good points are that the rooms are spacious and clean with good air-conditioning. We had a ground floor room with small outside area and we could see a small portion of the sea; (we cannot complain as it was an upgrade from a garden view). Improvements would be the provision of more English TV channels (we only had CNN and Al Jazeera), more convenient electrical sockets and an umbrella for the outside table. The hotels good points are that all the gardens are beautiful and the staff are pleasant and professional, especially at the reception. The hot thermal swimming pool is very relaxing, a very unusual and lovely experience; my wife also enjoyed the spa treatments. So, what could the negatives be, it is the location of the hotel. It is difficult to walk anywhere outside of the hotel, it is located 450 metres off the main road between Forio and Saint Angelo, a long way from civilisation. But the 450 metres is mostly uphill and a horrendous drive for a car. If you reached the main road you can catch a local bus but be prepared to stand. The hotel provides a shuttle bus to the nearest town but I dont know how frequent the shuttle was as we saw a number of guests walking up and down to the drive to and from the local bus. We hired a car so we had the freedom of the island during the day; I could not face driving at night because the island's roads are narrow and dangerous. Therefore, in the evening, we, and the other guests, were captive to the hotel. The evening meals were formal affairs, admittedly, weather permitting, on a nice patio overlooking the pools and enjoying the lovely sunsets but the meal was a little dragged out especially if you did not catch the eye of the waiter and sometimes the restaurant was lacking in organisation and effective communication. There was no background music as we dined, we only had entertainment on the one night so the evenings were boring. My advice if you want a hotel in Ischia book in Ischia Town where you are close to the beaches, the shops and the night life, which, unfortunately are not features of this hotel.

Discrete and SpecialThis family owned business is lovely. The friendly service and fine food served is of a high standard. The rooms attached to the main entrance where we stayed have balconies. The gardens which are part of the property are lovingly maintained throughout the year even though the property is partly closed to the public during winter (part of the property will be open for business out of the season in the coming months of Autumn/Winter,I believe. Setting and facilities are lovely. The welcome here is genuine and warm from people who are consummate professionals from the Night Manager to the Owners and from the wonderful Gardener to the Maitre D. Good Experience.
