I feel lucky to have been thereMani is a stunning place and Pappoudiko is its perfect complement. It is a group of structures each added next to the other in the Mani tradition. The rooms are made with taste and care without being pretentious or cute (that's why I did not mark "quaint" in the review - something is wrong if a traditional Mani building is quaint!). The B&B people take care of you like a relative. And if you are lucky to hear the story of the structures from Mrs Kiki, then you finally understand what you have read about the development of traditional Mani architecture through the centuries.

Great expectations... not metI rarely write bad reviews, especially for a place as stunning as Mani. A friend recommended this place, and following a brief research, we decided that it was probably worth the really high price and we booked it. We were a large group of friends and all have travelled extensively both in Greece and abroad. The place is indeed magical and they have done a really great job decorating the old towers. The rooms were cool, spacious and cosy, with good level of cleanliness. The first issue we encountered was that the rooms were not prepared even if we arrived after the check in time. Secondly throughout our stay there was no wifi connection - yes were on holiday but still needed to be updated on professional issues. Thirdly, there was always something missing from the well-advertised breakfast. All the above however would be meaningless if the owner was more welcoming - she wasn't... at all... Unfortunately for us, a negative experience in our holiday.

Excellent traditional HotelWe stayed at this wonderful hotel for one night. The room was impressive and wonderfully designed having a lot of ammentities. The serve breakfast 'on delivery' and upon request. The only drawback is the location which is absolutely in the middle of nowhere and is very difficult to find as you have to drive through narrow roads with no light at night.

Not what we expectedWe had recently a two night stay in Papoudiko (chosen based on nice rooms, breakfast and reviews). Although the room was comfy and nice (what we expected for the price) the rest of the package was below average. The main problem was the constant noises caused by the poor sound insulation. Noises were coming from the upper floor both at the first night and the two next mornings although we mentioned it to the reception. The answer was that we will try to ask the tenants to be quiet. The noise though was a result of the iron chars and table moving above us constantly. Moreover, the well-advertised breakfast was just average that you will find in rooms with half the price. When someones asks for premium pricing it should offer the services that match that pricing...

Loved our stay in Mani!We loved our stay at Pappoudiko; Mani is gorgeous and this traditional stone complex is no exception! To sum up: - the staff was very accommodating and friendly - the studio had ample space and it's beautifully decorated in a traditional style with high quality furniture. - the studio offers all kinds of amenities and toiletries include even toothbrush and toothpaste which is quite rare in Greece. The kitchenette is fully equipped. - the location is excellent; very close to Areopoli, yet far enough to park with ease. It's still within walking distance if you're up for it. There is also a nice view (long distance) to the sea and several towers in the vicinity. The common yard is also nicely decorated with a large shared table and chairs. - We chose the most affordable studio which is quite spacious for 2 and the rate was great for the value. - the breakfast is personalized (i.e. no a buffet but rather served in your room or terrace which is typical for lodges in the countryside in Greece). Several warm and cold dishes (dairy products, cold cuts, bakery products) are offered including some local specialties. Good quality but no fresh fruit. Overall very satisfied, no important issues. If I may offer a suggestion: - the breakfast was good but sub par compared to expectations; in my opinion it should include more local products and definitely some fruit and vegetables given the lodge style e.g. local cheese and hams instead of generic supermarket types.
