A great place to stayThe building is a real palace which explains the name of the b&b. It is not fancy but the rooms are huge and the ceilings very high. Our room was clean and simple. We had a good breakfast on the terrace. The b&b is located in the middle of a cute village and is really charming. The restaurant located in the backyard is also excellent.

Beautiful palazzo; disastrous serviceThe building is very nice and we enjoyed a very large room with a nicely painted ceiling. But, apart from the premises, nothing! No real service, no human contact! You feel like in a ghost hotel... and the breakfast is a shame: you have to prepare yourself your coffee with the machine in your room and you are proposed only a few croissants and cakes, everyday the same... No fruits, no cheese, no bread, no yoghurt... we bought ourselves like other customers did what was necessary to get a real breakfast. The place has a huge unexploited potential. Unfortunately, taking care of customers seems to be a totally absent concept there.

Enjoy the food, wines and people of Puglia from this out-of-the-ordinary suite. This review is for Suite Vescovile in the Palazzo Scarciglia in Minervino di Lecce. We spent 4 nights here. It was a wonderful base from which to explore the immediate surroundings. 1. The location of the suite of rooms is in the centre of this quiet little town. There is a friendly cafe/bakery opposite for breakfast or pre-dinner drinks. There are two really good restaurants close by. 2. We chose to be in Minervino in order to visit the excellent Menhir Salento winery (their offices, restaurant and wine tasting are next door). 3. The suite consists of a grand living room, bedroom and bathroom, with a smaller twin-bed bedroom. Be aware that occupants of the smaller bedroom must walk through the large bedroom to get to the bathroom -OK for kids but perhaps less so for adults. 4. The rooms are neatly renovated with beautiful original floors, high ceilings and a proper palace "feel" -one walks up the grand staircase through much of the rest of the building to get to the suite. 5. Communications with the hostess were via WhatsApp -all clear and simple.

Do NOT book here.Book this location while travelling through Puglia with my husband and 2 children (age 7 & 1). Probably the worst experience Ive ever had (which is saying something as weve traveled extensively with and without kids). Booked through Hotels.ca with a request for a crib. When I arrive, it took 20 min to even find anyone on site. When I finally locate someone, she tells me that she knows nothing of a crib and they dont even have one there (even though they said online that they have them available). She then calls the owner who says that its already in use. Hmmm... but she says they dont have any. So where is my 1 year old going to sleep? They suggest on one of the old fashioned beds that is a good 3-4 feet off the ground! I get that they cant guarantee it, but they can at least advise me before arriving! They could have emailed me and I would have asked to cancel then. I ask if I can cancel as I have nowhere for the baby to sleep and the owners response over the phone is absolutely not as Ive already checked in. What? Yes, she handed me a key, but I didnt give them passports or anything. I go to the room and dont bring up our bags as we had no idea what to do. I end up calling hotels.ca. They call the owner to recommend that he cancel the nights stay and he refuses as well. He said I had 2 choices - stay the night or leave, but either way, Id be paying for the night. Im sorry, but this is not how you treat customers. We ended up leaving, paying for the night and getting another hotel. The receptionist was very nice apologetic but it was out of her control. Im sorry that she has to deal with the fallout from her employer.
