Cozy PlaceWas here last December, the weather was pleasantly cool (cold!), so we had endless cravings for authentic Jap ramen! This was the place to be, as almost every corner around the hotels vicinity offered noodles of different versions. The rooms, as expected, were typicalsmall, cozy, functional, particularly the cr. Good thing the toilet bowl offered all the technological amenities with just a push of the right buttonsss! Otherwise, it wouldve been a challenge for a big 220lb person like me to maneuver around. Dont expect the air conditioners to be ever present in this side of town, as the weathers almost always cold during most parts of the year, you wont need one. For us, we merely opened the windows, and voila, aircon! One big plus for this hotel is the fact that its located right smack at the shopping area, it just took as a few hundreds pf steps to get to a mall, supermarket, boutiques, and of course, the train station! Anyways, in summary, luv this cozy lil place, albeit, the rooms arent designed for big people. However, if you only stay in your room to rest, sleep, use the cr, and tuck away your shopping loot, then this is the place to be!

Good hotel for business stayCheck in process was standard. I arrived a little early, transferring from another hotel, and my room was not yet available. I did show up a few hours before check in time, but as standard in business hotels in Japan, they did not offer me access to the room early. I was able to store my luggage and it was waiting in my room when I checked in later and got access to the room. I booked a smoking room but it didn't seem to book correctly and I was given a non-smoking room. The hotel had no issue changing it after the first night, even offering to move my packed bags from one room to another. The non-smoking room was smaller than the smoking room, but it could be because the smoking room had two beds versus one. The rooms on the smoking floor used actual keys instead of the keycards on the other floors. Room was fine, typical of a Japanese business hotel, so on the smaller side. No pants press or ironing board in the room, however, it was located in the vending machine/ice room. Odd location for it, the ironing board wasn't in very good shape but it worked fine with the iron. I didn't like this setup, personally, and wouldn't recommend this for business travelers on extended stays that might need to use the iron. Besides that, everything was clean, the lobby was nice, the location was only a few minutes away from the train station, many options to eat and shop in the area. I would say that this building is fairly tired and needs a refresh, but everything in it still worked fine.

Palace Hotel TachakawaLovely Hotel. Large rooms. Spotless. Very friendly and helpful staff. Only 5 mins walk on a pedestrian routeway to the subway and monorail. Pick up for shuttle to the Airport right outside the hotel. Approx. 1 hour from centre of Tokyo.

OK place for a business stay - nothing excitingThe last time I stayed here was 20 years ago, and the hotel seemed almost exactly like I remember it. It's an efficient, clean place to stay if you are traveling on business. Nothing exciting. Rooms are very small but very serviceable. Breakfast was nothing to write home about - I ended up going to Starbucks instead. There are a number of good stores and restaurants in easy walking distance, including a Takashimaya department store, a 7-11 and Family Mart, a McDonalds and Starbucks, and several local Japanese options. The airport limousine bus stops here, which is very convenient.
