  Overpriced and filthy. DO NOT BOOK.

  Where do I start? This appears to be a pleasant cheap hotel, no frills and basic room for £39 a night, unfortunately it isnt pleasant nor cheap. Its incredibly filthy with the tiniest bathroom where youre standing around the toilet to wash your hands and right next to the toilet is the shower standing area, the whole area stinks of mould and numerous hairs from previous guests, grimy and stained shower and sink. The toilet doesnt flush well without plenty of elbow grease and repeat forceful attempts. The window is also broken and always slightly open even when shut. No bedside light only the main room light. Heater does not work. The man on the front desk didnt speak English, he said he was the housekeeper but if he cant understand English, then he isnt keeping the house. The booking line also appears to be in india as theres very poor grasp of English so expect confusion and non answering of questions. If this was a hostel, which it should be, charging £10-£15 per head, this would be more acceptable, as it is its vastly overpriced and noisy as the floors creak and not at all soundproofed so when other guests are talking or walking around you can hear disturbance. I see here that the Elstree Inn was always basic and unclean but somehow has gotten even worse since OYO bought it, an indian company. DO not expect this hotel to improve or lower its prices. DO NOT STAY HERE. There are Air b&bs nearby for the same price.

  Clean,tidy and ok for the purpose

  Sited over a pub with L shape extension. Room small but clean and tidy stocked with fresh linen/towels.Tea/coffee/TV facilities.Comfortable bed but for me too close to a radiator which came on in the evening and morning.Hot water for washing in an "aircraft type one piece molded bathroom. Difficult to park as site seems to share with other commercial shops.

  Blood stained pillow, filthy room and hostile manager.

  There was a blood-stain on the pillow that was supplied for room 32 in Oyo Elstree. I have asked the manager to change the blood-stained pillow case but he has refused. He maintains its not a pillow but a cushion. It is a matching pillow for the duvet and it is on my bed. It was beyond doubt a pillow for my bed. I cannot believe the rudeness of this manager. He berated me for not coming to him directly with this problem, which I tried to do this morning but the reception wasnt open. When I showed him all the emails I had sent to him via their website he just shrugged his shoulders and said that he didnt get them. When I asked him to replace the pillow he wouldn't. I found him to be rude and hostile. I even asked for it to be removed from the room and he refused to do this as well. And now I see that the white pillow case is also stained. There are other vile stains in the room. This is the most hideous place I have ever stayed in. If I had another option I would not stay here.

  Below Average

  Ive stayed at worse places but this place is well below par. The check in was fine and it was very last minute as I wasnt happy with an air bnb booking. The room was very basic with a single basic bed. Heating was minimum and the tv remote didnt work. I was too tired to go down two flights of stairs to complain. The bathroom was tiny and the curtains didnt fit the window. This meant that light woke you early the following morning. There was a kettle in the room with tea/coffee so that was a bonus. No wi fi code in the room. A small towel was on the bed. No plug socket by your bed to recharge a phone. No reading light. It was very last minute so needed a bed for the night. Spend a little more money and avoid here if you can is my humble advice.

  Staff are pleasant but accommodation itself poor

  Positives: Warm, comfy bed, nice staff. Car park if you can get your car in it. Negatives: Smelly, tiny room, dirty cups, hardly any sockets, no lamp, shower mouldy smelling. Other guests can be noisy. I'd return if I got a VERY cheap rate. I paid around £40 for a night here and for what was offered it was really poor.
