Loved our stayFirst time visit for us at this hotel, we are baby boomers, so have stayed in a variety of hotels, especially in Canberra. We were greeted by Christie at the front door, she was so welcoming and friendly we felt at home immediately. We loved our room, it was clean, comfortable with a free mini bar ! We went down to the bar for our complimentary drink and snack which was great. We bumped into Christie again who stopped and had a quick chat with us and directed us to a table to have our drink. My husband mentioned it was my birthday and we had booked two nights to celebrate, when we went to our room that night we found a bottle of champagne and a birthday card from the hotel ! I think Christie might have organised that for me. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and found the staff very helpful, breakfast was a little unusual but we managed.

Wow oh wow!Its always been the little things for me... Those little personal touches you dont expect.... We LOVED our stay at Ovolo Nishi Canberra its extremely clean and absolutely gorgeous in everyway from the dimly lit lift to the amazing woodwork in the foyer! Walking to your room in the corridors give you a feeling of mystery opening the for door to your room to find an room full of eclectic brilliance. The towels the bedding are stuff only dreams are made of and then we spot the button that puts the block out blind down to complete darkness and instantly you know the sleep you have here will be one of the best. Staff were brilliant and helpful even after we booked our breakfast at 8am we walked back to reception to move it later when it dawned on us that we had no need to get up early on a night away without the kids and lucky we did change that time weve never slept in past 8am but this morning that room and that amazing bed got us good. Breakfast was fantastic harder at the moment with all the COVID restrictions but we definitely didnt leave hungry nor disappointed. Did I mention the free mini bar... yes its true I have 2 beers in my bad ready for when we get home after the 4 hour drive. The gift that keeps on giving really There was a loot bad full of nice little treats that us fully grown adults enjoyed without having to share with little people. Our stay was amazing I will be speaking of all things Ovolo Nishi for anyone of my family or friends needing some time away. The best part right now we are 100kms south of Canberra whilst I write this review but when the air conditioning in the car hits my hair this most amazing smells takes me right back to a happy place at Ovolo Nishi the shampoo and conditioner take the cake for me theres nothing worse for a girl who loves her hair than using hotel shampoo and conditioner but this one this one is just the most amazing stuff Ive ever come across. So much so I was sad I couldnt take a bottle or 10 home with me. The constant reminder of how good my hair smells right now is not enough. Id happily accept some in the Mail for my birthday thats for sure So do yourself a favour.... Spoil yourself.... Be Selfish... Spend some of your hard earned money at a place youll walk out of feeling rejuvenated and relaxed and full of sugar from the candy buffet when you check out. Thank me later.... Dee

Take night vision goggles and lots of patience because there are lots of rules...grrrIt was our first and last stay at the Ovolo. Back to the Hyatt next time we are down. We arrived late on a Friday night it was a comedy of errors from the start. Walked in from the street and the place was packed. Couldnt even find the reception desk as nothing is sign posted. When we did find the reception desk and asked about the parking as per email from hotel, it got complicated (3 different lifts from car park to hotel) and expensive at $35. We finally get our bags and are led on a jaunt around the hotel to find the right lift for our room - not the right lift so it ended up being a very long dark journey to find our room. We booked a Creative Sun room which is anything but creative. It was a concrete box overlooking the road nothing artistic about it - non existent artwork. Plus nothing like the description on the website looking out at the bushland and beyond. Seriously unhappy. It felt Ike a prison. We decided a nice bottle of wine would calm the nerves. Guess what. No wine list only food. Why is that even sensible? We called down for them to send up wine list. We ordered our wine. Wine was delivered and now door to room doesnt close. They spend 1 hour trying to fix it by dismantling the automatic door mechanism - its now seriously late and we are cactus and really unhappy. We settle down with our wine only to discover that the air conditioning still isnt working and the room is seriously stuffy - call down again to complain. Finally they move us to a new room and we eventually get some sleep. And the rules. Sooo many rules. Even the breakfast that comes with the hotel deal is so complicated it needs to be explained by the staff. Then if you want to take advantage of the happy hour drink you have to ensure the bar staff know exactly what you are trying to order otherwise you will get charged then you have to go to the hassle of refunding. And everything is so dark and gloomy - take your night vision goggles so you can actually see. Never again.
