Probably more a 3.5....A mixture of great and pretty average sums up the Oure for me. On the positive, we thought dinner was excellent although you might get a bit bored after 3 or 4 nights. The garden bungalows are a good size and have all you need, the beach and sea were beautiful. Some of the staff were fabulous others hopeless, plus I think they could upgrade the towels, the sun beds and the snorkelling equipment, all a bit used. We experienced a number of errors but it was all sorted in the end. Its tough to be lenient when the pricing is so high but I guess paradise costs money. Enjoy.....

Very relaxing stayOure Lodge is very lovely and the location is stunning. Free use of snorkeling gear, kayaks and stand up paddle boards is included in the stay to help you explore the beautiful bay. Unfortunately the coral out the front now is mostly bleached. We stayed in a beach front villa which was nice, however if you are after privacy maybe opt for a garden villa as there will always be people lying on the beach right in front of your cabin, especially on cruise days. The pillows could also do with an update but the bed was comfortable. Breakfast and lunch options at the resort are somewhat average but dinner was always amazing. The staff are very friendly and helpful (only some speak English though).

Location is magnificent, property is more like a 3 starSet directly on a most beautiful bay, the location is unbelievable. Being able to snorkel over the reef within 30 metres of the resort beach was excellent. However, overall the quality of the family room we had was pretty basic for the price. Some simple things did not work and the shower has really annoying- could only be used in hand held mode. Service was mostly friendly, however, got the sense that some staff were over worked and got a bit tetchy with the Christmas rush. Food was OK, but alternatives are limited (read non-existant on some days). Found the restaurant at Kou Bogny to be better standard and cheaper. Food and drink prices were sky high which presumably reflects the isolation of Isle de Pins and also the lack of choice.

Stunning locationThe resort is in an absolutely gorgeous location of Kunamera bay. Our bungalow had a view of the bay even though it was not waterfront. Free use of all water activities gear (excellent snorkel at the bay). Breakfast was included and mediocre but we eventually realised this is just the standard breakfast buffet offered in resorts for tourists in New Caledonia. Dinner was ok with standard over priced food. not much alternatives. Hotel offers shuttle services to places in the island for a price. Internet coverage was ok but keeps dropping out. All other facilities is fine, could use with some mosquito nets in the many windows in the bungalow to let the breeze in.

Snorkel from the beach in a beautiful bayWe had three nights here in a room just back from beach front but with a partial view of the sea. We preferred this to beach front because they had less privacy. Apart from the beauty of the bay and the incredible hues of blue on the sea, we loved being able to snorkel straight from the beach. Some of the coral is still alive and there was a good variety of fish of all colours. Generally there were no more than four people snorkeling at the same time, often less. We also took kayaks for a trip round the bay. We found all staff apart from reception very friendly and the food was generally very good. Sitting in the shade at lunch while looking across the bay will be a happy memory for a long time! Our room, while not luxurious, was good enough. After all, you don't spend much time in the room.
