  Lovely experience

  Exceptionally peaceful with very comfortable rooms. Delicious breakfast taken in the smart little dining room or gorgeous terrace. Great recommendations on runs/hikes/lakes from Ivo. Expensive but worth it for a special break.

  Wonderful place to stay

  My sister and I were in Merano for a wedding, and stayed three nights at Ottmanngut in the Ecksalon, which, as a corner room, had lovely views with two different perspectives. The entire experience was lovely, starting with drinks and snacks on the beautifully landscaped terrace right after we arrived. Breakfast each morning was wonderful - three courses, which were different every day (including a course of breads/cheeses, and a hot course - all delicious) in the very inviting atmosphere of the charming breakfast room. We cannot say enough about the service - it was superb. Martin, the proprietor, was ALWAYS available, and at the ready to help with any request, including preparing drinks/snacks/appetizers throughout the afternoon to be served in the cozy lounge or on the beautiful terrace. The two servers (for breakfast and on the terrace), Alex and Johannes, were both extremely friendly and helpful, adding a lot to the very positive experience.   Exquisite and Elegant

  I travelled for 2 months through France and Italy staying at hotels along the way. This was by far the best. Everything about the Ottmanngut was elegant. From the external building, the gardens, the rooms, the common areas and the food! The staff were incredibly helpful and friendly. The breakfasts were amazing! Merano itself is a beautiful place to visit but I would happily go back there just to stay at this hotel. Can't speak highly enough of how beautiful a hotel it was.

  Love it !!! Great rooms decorated with taste. Wonderful and interesting breakfast. Beautiful garden. Great staff. I would def suggest this hotel to my friends. We will come back to this hotel :) Thank you

  3rd Year in a row. And the next will be the 4th

  My family and I have been already 3 times (including October 2019) at Ottmanngut. And as well as the times before we are already dreaming about the next year visit. I am Italian but decided to write in English so that there won't be need a translation by Google or Tripadvisor. I am a bit surprised about the last two reviews regarding the breakfast at Ottmanngut. Expecially because we travel with three teenager kids and they are one of the most difficult clients to satisfy at that age. They always had amazing time at breakfast and every day we, the whole family, had so much food that we have skipped lunch (impossible to sit again at any table before 2pm) or had a light one. so much food, so good as well. Reading this last review i have asked myself what is wrong with us. Having such a different opinion for the same service. But i also remember all the people sitting around us at breakfast and it was evident that everyone was super happy. Last, the people at Ottmangut are serving perhaps 10/12 tables per day. Avg 2500 table per year. If in one year only 2 clients had such a bad experience to be worth a bad review......well that means I was probably right about my opinion and nothing was wrong with it. Of course everyone has his own opinion and even more a different taste about food. Perhaps they were expecting a traditional continental breakfast while Ottmanngut serves a very different breakfast, with a very different approach to its preparation (home made breads, sweet, jams, selection of Alm Cheese, etc). i understand that here and there this kind of breakfast may find people who are not keen with it. That is a pity either for the guest but also for the staff whom cannot fullfil guest expectation. I end this review with a sort of exhortation. When reviewing a price of a service, whatever service, people should think twice. if not three times. They don't know the dynamic behind the scenes. They don't know what is the labour cost of making a sourdough bread, making sugar free jams, how expensive is the cheese coming from an Alm located at 2000 meter in a remote small valley, they don't know how much it costs to keep in such a good condition a garden located on a steep hill...and so on. When someone says ...i have written lots of reviews which means i travelled a lot. yes sure. But did you ever make a bread with long time rising sourdough loaf? did you ever spend your day pealing peaches to make a perfect jam? standing by the boiling pot to be sure it is not burning? did you have weed a large garden like that which requires a full time employee all year round? and so on. I really hope this words will help new guest of Ottmanngut understand well the huge job behind the scenes, the fact that the breakfast is superb and plenty, yet unconventional, the love and the passion of such young enterpreneur who puts himself on such a challeng at a very young age, the brightness of the rooms, the art deco atmosphere that pemeate everywhere. Wish all of you to experience this place. it is truly worth it. Ciao guys at Ottmanngut. See you next year. Counting days.
