    Loved this place

Friendly staff members, amazing meal, nice Onsen, truly Japan experience. Onsen on the top floor is ocean view, very nice and relaxing. The village is very small and quiet, another fantastic way to see Japan. Theres a Shrine right next to the hotel, beach is also few steps away. The food was so good, loved every dish especially the Kada special fish rice. The grill beef was also wxceptional melt in mouth. We had a nine course meal, one of the best I had in Japan. Loved this place, can't wait to go back. The only problem was travelling down there, 1 hour from Osaka train to wakayama, then another 40 minutes to Kada. besides that was all good. Overall good hotel with good value

The location is a bit far but still worth it with the gorgeous seaview we have from room. Staff are friendly and helpful. Room we booked was spacious with outdoor private bath. However, suggest to have the shower area indoor and both shower and washroom to have curtains for privacy. Breakfast was good but better to have some western choices. Dinner was excellent with a celebrity chef.

    False Advertisement/Poor service

When I knew I was heading to Osaka/Kyoto in February, I started searching for places I might want to visit. As soon as I came across Hiinanoyu, I knew I wanted to spend an evening with my fiancee at their Private Hotspring Room (please see the attached picture that I captured from their official website). So, when we arrived at Osaka, we took a train all the way to Wakayama. and because we were with another two friends, who were also a couple, the four of us rented a car to drive directly to Hiinanoyu. Upon arrival, we were greeted by a member of their staff saying there isn't any availability until 6pm, which was an hour later. We were more than happy to wait or come back in an hour, but found it a little strange that they didn't ask for our details(eg. our names, mobile number and etc. For the record, two of us currently live in Osaka, and speak fluent Japanese.)At this point we were already outside, and I went back in to get a clearer understanding of the situation. This time, I specified that I wanted to book the Private Hotspring Room and offered them my details. Their response, however, was ridiculous. I quote: ima wa dekimasen, which translates to something along the line of "it is not possible now." My fiancee had our portable wifi, so I went out and we doubled checked online that THIS WAS the right place and that they DO in fact offer Private Hotspring Room. And YES, the attached picture clearly states that they offer a Private Hotspring Room for families and couples. I went back in once again, and this time showing them their website on my phone while asking for a Private Hotspring Room. I got the exact SAME response: "It is not possible now." They did not even try to provide me with an explanation or any additional information. So I kept asking, "It is not possible now, but will it be available later?", "You guys had this type of room, but don't have it anymore now?" NOTHING! Just the same short response! If they no longer offer this type of private hotspring rooms, they should take it off their website to prevent possible customers spending hours to commute to their hotspring only to face disappointment. I believe this to be false advertisement, and consider them to be responsible for wasting my time and money. (If you are only in Osaka for a few days, taking up a whole day for nothing means alot, and the train fare for 4 people from Osaka Nanba to Wakayama plus Car rental fee kind of adds up).

    Amazing time!

I booked the room IN ADVANCE, with my at the time Fiance who I am now happily married too. We had a wonderful 12 course seasonal Kaiseki dinner with a few cocktails, featuring delicious wagyu beef, fresh fish from the live fish pool that you can see entering the dining area. They even have a few sharks swimming around! I thought that was really cool being table side to the fish while we ate delicious and delicately prepared dishes The staff was extremely polite and helpful, they managed to get the flowers I requested in advance for my wife and were very attentive to all request. Especially during the dinner. The room was nice (we booked the biggest one with the two beds and the bath near the window), with a good view of the ocean, the onsen up on the roof has a nice view of the islands and the sea. in the morning there was a large breakfast buffet with plenty of options. There was plenty to do, Matsuri, local fish market, the Shrine next door within a short walking distance, another on top of the mountain with a nice view of the ocean (be careful I had to hold my wife's hands a lot because she slipped a few times on the climb :P) I think you can ask to go fishing too, but we didn't have time, but we did catch the beautiful sun set :) There's a convenience store right behind the onsen if you need some snacks. I can only imagine the people who had a negative review didn't book in advance and planned poorly.

Making a day trip can be a reasonable choice.

If you live or sty around Osaka and want to soak yourself in a hot spring, visiting Kata for a day trip can be more reasonable than visiting, say, Arima. If you drive, it takes only half and an hour. You can go to Kata by Nankai Line, too.
